Joe Tonahill Jack Ruby's defense lawyer BEAUMONT, Texas Joe Tonahill, the attorney who represented Jack Ruby in the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, died Tuesday. He was 88. Mr. Tonahill, whose legal career spanned more than 50 years, argued that Ruby shot the man suspected of killing President John F. During the last few years he was a business agent for the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters. This was one of his proudest accomplishments, as was building his home with his own hands for his family in Chelsea. Daniel will be missed by all who knew him, especially his wife, Susan and their three beautiful daughters, Melanie, Ragen and Katie. We are filled with sorrow that he is out of our sight but filled with joy that he is free, and sure that we will always be together in love.

Survived by his parents, William and Diana, sister Tanya (Jeff) Stone, niece Brandi Stone and nephew Zachary Stone and his Grandfather, Ray Hagen and many aunts, uncles and cousins. DeiRay was a former member of the Green Beret Special Forces Unit in the United States Army and most recently was employed by Detroit Newspapers.
