Attachments On Quarry's Gate LOS ANGELES (AP) - The live gate share earned by boxer Jerry Quarry in his losing fight Monday night against Muhammad Ali in Atlanta has been attached on behalf of Quarry's co-manager Johnny Flores, an attorney said Wednesday night Attorney Ben Adachi also said proceedings were under way in New York to tie up the amount Quarry is to get from closed circuit television. The gate sum is reportedly $41,000 and the TV figure is about a quarter of a million dollars. Flores and Jerry's father Jack Quarry were co-managers of the heavyweight fighter early this year when two contracts were signed — one of them by Flores — for fights with Joe Frazier, one in New York and one in Los Angeles. Quarry and hit father claimed Flores had no right to sign a contract for that fight and subsequently, Quarry filed to dissolve his seven-year contract with Flores. There is still a year and a half to go on that contract and Nov. 9 has been set for an arbitration hearing in the matter. Times HereW, Carroll, la. 11 Thursday, Oct. 29, 1970 • 1 Kiwanis Plans a Program of Drug Education The Carroll Kiwanis Club wil attack the problem of drug abuse by going to its youngest victims with a program of education directed toward the early-teenage and pre-teenage child, according to William D. Kurth, president of the Carrol! club. This effort, he said, will be an outgrowth of the Kiwanis- initiated Operation Drug Alert program which began here and throughout the United States and Canada last fall. Operation Drug Alert Is aimed at bringing to the community in gen-! eral an understanding of the drug problem. This yaer, In addition fa the continuing Operation Drug Alert, Kiwanis clubs will devote part of their effort to a new, and corollary major emphasis program called "The; Quality of Our Environment." The club, undertaking this program in conjunction with Operation Drug Alert will attempt to improve the quality of the Carroll County environment, Kurth said. The Carroll Kiwanis Drug Alert program includes working through the Department of Social Services to form a panel of former drug users who will relate their experiences while using drugs, and answer questions. This program will be presented to students of Glidden- Ralston Community High School, Coon Rapids Community High School, St. Bernard's High School in Breda and the Carroll Community High School on Nov. 17. Tha group* that hava appeared at the Carroll County schools will be dinner guests of the Carroll Kiwanis Club at Joe's Executive. Club Restaurant Nov. 17. They will present their program at 5:45 p.m. It will be open to the public for anyone interested in hearing the panel members relate their experiences. They will answer all questions from the audience. Nick Solentic, chief of police, Council Bluffs, will give a talk relating experiences that he has had in Council Bluffs and Omaha with drug users and the problems that arise with drug usage. He will also show a short film. This program will be presented to the Lidderdale CYO Dec. 15. The club, Kurth said, is also working in conjunction with the Young Lawyers Section of the American Bar Association and the Iowa Bar Association. These groups are presenting programs on drugs to the junior high students at St. Lawrence, Holy Spirit and Carroll Community Schools in Carroll and Glidden-Ralston Community School, Coon Rapids Community School_ and St. Bernard's at Breda.
