The City of Peshtigo rebuilt and incorporated in 1903. The Peshtigo Fire killed about five times more people than the Chicago Fire. It covered 2,400 square miles much larger than the village itself. In the year 2000, 11,555 people from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and 22 foreign countries visited the Peshtigo Fire Museum.

The memorial at the Peshtigo Fire Cemetery was the first official State Historical Marker authorized by the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. Adjacent to the museum is a solemn sight-a graveyard for those that lost their lives on that fateful night. But at the north end of Emery Avenue on the Peshtigo River is a place for new, better memories to be made-at Badger Park. With over 57 acres of land for recreational use, it's a place many families and friends will share happy moments.

Peshtigo may be best known for a monumental tragedy, but in this growing community of over 3,500 strong, there is plenty more to discover. surprising to know that very same town is now the second largest in Marinette County today. Peshtigo has accomplished just that with several attractions to bring vacationers and future-residents alike back for more. The Peshtigo River that at one time saved a precious few from perishing in the fire is now a recreational haven for boating and fishing. The Peshtigo Fire Museum that once was the first church built after the fire now educates thousands May 3, Froggy Hike, Hemlock Curves Nature Trail (off Badger Road in the Peshtigo Harbor Wildlife Area).
