RICHARD L. ARNDT Summer Vicar At Shepherd Seminarian Richard L. Arndt of Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, 111. will serve Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Parker-Callaway as a summer vicar. Vicar Arndt will work with the pastors in the area of evangelism and youth work. Vicar Arndt will take a full year of Internship at St. John's Lutheran Church, Wellsburg, Iowa, in September. After his year of internship Vicar Arndt will return to Concordia Seminary to complete his final year of seminary training before being ordained as a minister in the Lutheran Church —Missouri Synod. Mrs. Arndt, the former Anna Jean Davis, is a former resident of Parker. The couple and their two sons, Richard and Jonathan, will reside this summer with Mrs. Arndt's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Eugene Davis, in Parker. Parkway Dr. J.J. Holloman Jr., will be the guest speaker at the morning worship service Sunday at Parkway Presbyterian Church. , He will show slides of his work in Nigeria. y Coming to Panama City from Texas, Dr. Holloman has 'worked at Bay Memorial Hospital in obstetrics and gynecology for the past twenty years. He is a graduate of the University of Texas, Phi Beta Kappa. In 1972 and 1974 Dr. Holloman served as a volunteer under the Southern Baptist Contention Foreign Board working in the local hospitals of Nigeria in obstetrics and gynecology. Services Set At Trinity The Rev. Alan F. Steinke, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 West 11th Street, will conduct the worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. The lay reader will be Norman Carlson and the acolyte will be Miss Alison Carlson. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. Mrs. Mary Ellen Foster, chairman of the board of education, reports: "Our use of VBS materials in Sunday School during the summer seems to be a big success. Attendance has even increased in some classes. There is no opening exercise, Just small, interesting classes 45 minutes long. Holy Cross Beach Chapel, located on Hwy S-30C, will have a service beginning at 7:30 a.m. All are cordially welcome. Christian Church Services begin at the Christian Church, 1814 St. Andrews Blvd., with Bible School at 9:45. At the 11 o'clock worship hour, the minister, Philip T. Durham will bring the message, "Goals To Go." Youth and adult study groups MglnatOp.m. The evening sermon entitled, "Honor To Whom Honor" will begin at 7. CHARLES SIMMONS Rev. Simmons Is Appointed At the last session of the Alabama-West Florida Methodist Conference, in addition to re-assignment of Reverends Si Mathlson and Jerry Hollls to First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Charles Simmons was appointed as associate pastor. A native of Montgomery, Ala., Mr. Simmons was graduated from Lanier High School in that city and from Troy State University with the B.A. degree. He received the master of divinity degree from Candler School of Theology in March of this year. For the last five years he has served as student pastor of the Banks, Ala., (near Troy) United Methodist Church. Sonny Meyers To Be Heard Sonny Myers Is the speaker Sunday at 11 a.m. at Hlland Park United Methodist Church. Mr. Myers, a prominent automobile dealer in Panama City, is a Christian layman. For about 20 years he has conducted worship services at the local prison camp. Hlland Park United Methodist Church is at 2420 West Baldwin Road. Sing Today • There will be a sing at Christian Shelter In Holmes County Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to midnight. There will also be a barbecue and fish fry with plates selling for $1.50. Proceeds will go to completing the church building. Christian Shelter is located on state road 179 about nine miles north of Caryville and about four miles south of .Berry's Crossroads, which is on highway No. 2, T.C. Moon, pastor, Invites everyone. Among the groups singing In the afternoon will be the Westgate Singers, The Wayllghters, and The American Missionary Singers. At 7:30 the Faith Travelers of Bonlfay will begin the evening portion of the program. Among the other groups to appear in the evening will be the Billy Glover Singers, The Waymakers, The Edge Family, and the Gene Chamblee Family. Sermon Topic To Be 'Heaven The Kev. Henry Hazard, pastor of the First Independent Methodist Church, 11th Street at Chestnut Avenue In St. Andrews, will have as his sermon topic at the 11 a.m. worship service "Destination: Heaven." Sunday school for all ages Is at 9:45. The sermon during the 7 p.m. Song service and worship service will be "Loneliness." A nursery is provided for all services. Wednesday evening Bible study will be at 7:30 at the church. Saturday, there will be men's work day on the new kitchen, Beginning the weekend of June 22, several of the young people from the church will attend pre-teen church camp at Lake Swan Camp In Melrose, Fla. Covenant Church Will Hear Hayes Rev. Avery Will Preach The Rev. Charles W. Avery, pastor of The Parker United Beck Avenue There will be a picnic at Beck Avenue Church of Christ for all the Joy Bus riders and their parents June 23. Following the morning worship services the Joy Buses will take the children to an area where they can play various games as well as eat. During the games the membership of the Church of Christ will have the opportunity to become better acquainted with the bus rider's parents. All visitors are welcome to any or all activities of the church. Jack Reece is minister. Methodist Church, has announced his sermon topic for Sunday at the 11 aim. worship service will be "Does God Talk?" Everyone is invited to attend worship services at the church, located at the corner of Hwy 98 and Boat Race Rd. Bobby, as he is better known, has Just been ordained to the ministry and installed as minister of the Presbyterian Church in Carrolton, Miss. His subject will be, "Men Sent By God". After graduation from Bay High, Bobby graduated from Gulf Coast Junior College, University of West Florida, and Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. James E. Hayes of St. Andrews.
