Tuesday, October 2, 2001 Interest died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, in Sinai Grace Hospital, Detroit, Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Eugene Early. Survivors include three sons, uthe Rev.

Rev. John Samuel L. Barly, and Philip Early, all of Alexandria; two daughters, Gladys Coles of Detroit, and Mary Daniel of Alexandria; and dren, 37 great grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 5 p.m. Wednesday until time of services in the church.

Chris Gordon Memorial services for Chris Gordon will be at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, with the Rev. Dale Hensarling officiating. Gordon, 17, of Pineville, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, in Christus St.

Frances Cabrini Hospital. He was a 10th- grade student at Tioga High School. Survivors include his mother, Marcie Guidry of Jefferson, Texas; father, Thomas Ray Gordon of Pollock: one brother, Matthew Gordon of Pineville; paternal grandparents, Daisy Mae and Cilton Dupuy of Pineville; and step-maternal grandmother, Dannie O'Hare of Duluth, Ga. He was a cross-country truck driver for Tigator out of Baton Rouge for over 20 years. He was a member of the Louisiana Rodeo Association and had participated in bull riding while in high school. He was a member of the first graduating class of Alexandria Senior High and attended Louisiana State University at Alexandria. Survivors include one son, Justin Dewayne Matthews of Pineville; one daughter, Ashlee Nichole Matthews of Pineville; his parents, Arnold and Della Matthews of Alexandria; and one brother, Randy Matthews of Alexandria. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington. Beall, 71, of Covington, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, in Covington. He was a native of Pineville and a resident of Covington for the past 33 years. He was a graduate of Louisiana College, and a retired geophysicist with Louisiana Land Exploration Company.

He was a deacon of First Baptist Church of Covington and a member of the Board of Trustees of Louisiana College. He was preceded in death by his parents, George D. and Vernon Swayze Beall. Survivors include his wife, Bettye Dillon Beall of Covington; one daughter, Rebecca Beall Fielding of Covington; one son, Donald Edward, Beall of Pensacola Beach, two brothers, Vernon Beall and William T. Beall, both of Pineville; one sister, Sarah Beall Dean of Colfax; and three grandchildren.

Donald Parent HOUSTON Memorial services for Donald "Don" William Parent was Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, in Houston. Parent, 53, of Pasadena, Texas, died Sept. 15, 2001, in Houstoray, He was a native of Pineville. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Peck, 54, of Sicily Island, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001. She graduated from Delhi High School and received her bachelor of arts degree in education from Northeast Louisiana University. She taught eighth grade in Delhi, owned a business in New Iberia and worked for the Department of Transportation in Baton Rouge.

She was an 1 active member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, B.F. Kelly; and one sister, Ann Kelly Brewster. Survivors include her husband, H.C. Peck one son, H.C.

Tia Town Talk Winn Parish Pleas Town Talk staff The following guilty pleas were taken in Winn Parish last week: Erraby Scott pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. He was sentenced to nine years at hard labor, the first two years to be served without benefit of probation, parole or suspension. Daphne Turner pleaded guilty to issuing worthless checks. She was sentenced to 60 days unsupervised probation and fined $100 plus court costs. Lisa Vascocu pleaded guilty to issuing worthless checks.

She was sentenced to 30 days unsupervised probation and fined $150 plus court costs. Violet Nation Parker Evans pleaded guilty to possession of a schedule four controlled substance. She was sentenced to 21 months at hard labor concurrent with sentences imposed by the federal court. She was given credit for time served and her belongings seized during her arrest were forfeited. Samuel Greenwood pleaded guilty to speeding 96 in a 55 zone, resisting an officer and second-offense driving while intoxicated.

He was fined $175 for speeding. For resisting an officer, he was sentenced to six months in the Winn Parish Jail with all but 10 days suspended, fined $500, placed on 24 months probation and ordered to perform 40 hours community service. On the DWI charge, he was sentenced to six months in jail with all but 10 days suspended, fined $1,000 plus court costs, placed on 24 months probation and ordered to perform 30 eighthour days of community service. He also must complete drug and substance abuse programs and driver's improvement programs. Jeremiah Johnson pleaded guilty to driving under suspension.

He was fined $500 plus court costs and a monthly supervision fee. He must also complete driver's improvement training. Area man indicted on charges of theft Town Talk staff SHREVEPORT A federal grand jury here has indicted Charles Bell, 58, of Ferriday on charges of theft of government funds. Bell served as the executive director of the Ferriday Housing Authority between 1996 and 2000. U.S.

Attorney Bill Flanagan of the Western District said Bell is charged with four counts of theft or bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds. He was a state Senator from 1944-52 and was a candidate for State Attorney General in 1952. He was founder of Avoyelles Broadcasting Corp. and general manager from 1952-1973.
