We're Obituaries Monday, Jan. 17, 1977 5A Eau Claire Leader-Telegram Fire damages Chippewa Falls duplex CHIPPEWA FALLS -A fire believed to be caused by a wood-burning stove caused about $12,000 damage to a duplex at 223 W. Columbia St. here Satur-" day afternoon. Chippewa Falls firemen arrived at 12:50 p.m., is sued a second alarm at 1:10 p.m.

and returned at 5:35 p.m., battling the blaze in sub-zero weather. Romundstad, 84, 811 Chauncey died Saturday at his hom.e. The Strum native moved to Eau Claire In 1925 and married Oline Bovre. He worked for the L.G. Arnold Co. until 1945.

when he began work with the Eau Claire Sand and Gravel retiring in 1957. Mr. Romundstad was a member of the Board of Deacons at First Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Elmer, Minneapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Roy C.

Farris, San An-r tonio, a brother, Goodwin, Strum; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church here, with burial In St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Strum. Friends may call from 3 p.m.

The Town of Wilson native lived most of his life there. He married Edith Shipley Sept. 23, 1916t In the Ton of Wilson. Survivors include five sons, Kenneth, Prairie Farm, Francis, of Amery, Clifford, Menomonie, Leonard, Stewartville, Donald, Wheeler; five daughters, Mrs.

Charles Hammer, Menomonie, Mrs. Clarence Hays, Eau Claire, Mrs. Joe Gowin, Ridgeland, Mrs. Robert Dowd and Mrs. Leo Huset, both of St.

Paul; a sister, Mrs. Frank Som-merfeld, Chippewa Falls; 41 grandchildren, 34 greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hay River Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call this afternoon and evening at the Miiller Funeral Home, Dallas, and at the church an hour before services.

Henry Weber Sr. MONDOVI Henry Weber 82, Rt. 4, was dead on arrival Sunday at Buffalo Memorial Hospital here. The native of the Town of Lima, Pepin County, married Mary Weisenbeck on June 6, 1917, and farmed in the area most of his life. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Marcellus, Henry, both of Mondovi, Walter, Independence, Cletus, Eau Claire; a daughter, Mrs.

Arthur Johnson, Mondovi; three brothers, Jack, William, both of Durand, Edward, Mondovi; and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Selz, Eau Claire, Mrs. Ray Nothen, Mrs. Tony Cebe, both of Durand, Mrs. Reuben Hanson, Alexandria," Mrs.

Florence Bachman, Elmhurst, 111. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church here, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Kjentvet and Son Funeral Chapel here, where a prayer service will be at 8 p.m.

Tuesday. Mrs. Leon Erickson GILMANTON Mrs. Leon Erickson, 64, died Sunday at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire. The former Julia Brom-mer was born in the Town of Modena, Buffalo County, and was married on March 26, 1932.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Darrell, Blooming Prairie, five brothers, Carl, Racine, Orvin, of Monroe, Elmer, Oscar, Walter, all of Modena; three Mrs. Norma Wussow, Rochester, Mrs. Elvin Erickson, Mondovi, Mrs. Roy Anderson, Eau Claire; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m.

Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church here, with burial in Gilmanton Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Kjentvet and Son Funeral Home, Mondovi, and from 9 a.m. until services Wednesday at the church. Dennis Hartung BALDWIN Dennis and Mary Ann Hartung, ages 33 and 31 respectively, died in a traffic accident near Tomah Friday. Both were Plum City natives and lived in the Elmwood area before their marriage there on April 25, 1964. Mrs. Hartung was the former MaryAnn Schwebach. Both were semi-truck drivers for the Toro firm of Bloomington, and worked together as a driving team.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda and Lori, both at home in Baldwin; his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Hartung, Eau Claire; his father, Carl Hartung, Iowa; his two brothers, Bernard, Kenneth, both of Eau Claire; his sister, Mrs. John Wetzel, Hinckley, and his maternal grandfather, Ben Sagstetter, Plum City. Also surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Paul Schwebach, Elmwood; her three sisters, Mrs. Richard Schwartz, Mrs. James Dunn, both of St. Paul, Mrs. James Frasier, West Virginia; and her brother, John Schwebach, Elmwood.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hammond, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Dull Funeral Home here, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

today and the Menomonie Loyal Order of Moose will conduct services at 8:45 p.m. George Gunderson George P. Gunderson, 87, 547 McDonough died Saturday at Sacred Heart Hospital. The Eau Claire native married Helen Lehmann in Eau Claire in 1910. They farmed in the Town of Lu-dington for 50 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel, Kenosha, Edward, Mauston; four daughters, Mrs. Ewald Zimmerman, Eau Claire, Mrs. Joseph Nye, Elk Mound, Mrs. John Statz, Menomonie, Mrs. Marvin Derro, Harris, a brother, Guy, Eau Claire; 39 grandchildren and 29 greatgrandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prock Funeral Home and 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today and until services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Kappers, 90, 2825 Augusta died today at Sacred Heart Hospital. The former Dora Mergener was an Eau Claire native and was married to Joseph Kappers hereon Oct. 13, 1913. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Charles Holden, Mrs.

Amos Stanton, both of Eau Claire; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Girault, Mrs. Cordelia Remm, Mrs. Helmer Woelfel, all of Milwaukee; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Wednesday at Prock Funeral Home, and 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, with burial in Lake View Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. Tuesday until services Wednesday at the funeral home, where a public Rosary service will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Gordon Schroeder MENOMONIE- Gordon F. Schroeder, 69, 321 16th Ave. was dead on arrival Saturday at Memori- al HosDital hir Th Weyauwega native married Gladys Foster here on May 13, 1933. He worked six years as a but-termaker in Pepin and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr.

Schroeder was the first manager of the Menomonie Farmers Union Co-op Feed Mill and worked there 16 years until retiring. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Frank, Menomonie; a son, James, Spokane, two brothers, Harold, Lawrence, both of Cedar Falls; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Stanton Funeral Home here, with burial in Cedar Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call this afternoon and evening and before services Tuesday. Arthur Marten Arthur G. Marten, 82, 1410 Highland died Sunday at Sacred Heart Hospital. The Town of Washington native was a lifelong resident of the area. He married Lula Miland April 2, 1919 in Eau Claire.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Percy, Chippewa Falls, Robert, of Loretta, Richard, Eleva; a daughter, Mrs. Iona Adams, Eleva; a brother, Gust, Eau Claire; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Hering, Mrs. Irene Hering, both of-Eau Claire; 16 grandchildren and 26 greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Cleghorn, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Chapel and an hour before services at the church. Mrs. Hattie Breitzman MENOMONIE Mrs. Hattie A.

Breitzman, 87, 421 Wilson died Saturday at a St. Paul hospital. The former Hattie Hlntiman was a Menomonie native and was married to Walter Breitzman. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Howard Boyle, St.

Paul, Mrs. John Barry, Marshall, a son, David, Racine; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Seelig, Proctor, Mrs. Walter Brown, Chicago; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Tuesday at the Stanton Funeral Home here, with spring burial in St. Paul's Cemetery. Friends may call an hour before services. Diane Garton Diane M. Garton, 27, formerly of 2603 LaSalle died Sunday at the Northern Wisconsin Center, Chippewa Falls, where she had been a resident the past 23 years.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Garton, Eau Claire; a sister, Mrs. David Belger, Eau Claire; and two brothers, Donald Chippewa Falls, Brian, at home. Private services will be at 2 p.m.

Wednesday at the Northern Wisconsin Center Chapel, with burial in the institution's cemetery. There will be no visitation. Others honored for production were Joy and Lee Jensen, Colfax, and Nancy Danielson, Cadott, in the 60,000 to 90,000 class; and Doug and Nancy Joseph Baier CHIPPEWA FALLS Joseph Baier, 73, 342 Stanley died today at St.

Joseph's Hospital here. The Tilden native married Mabel Zenner there on Nov. 6, 1923, and farmed a year in Canada before moving to the Town of Woodmohr, where the couple farmed 30 years. Later, Mr. Baier operated the Riverside Hotel here for 15 years, retiring in 1969.

Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Gerald, Chippewa Falls, Lionel and Norman, both of Bloomer, Gordon, Bloomer, Joseph and John, both at home; Thomas, Chippewa Falls; three daughters, Mrs. Tom Cooney, Mrs. Leonard Adrian, both of Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Kenneth Geissler, Eau Claire; two sisters, Mrs. Felix Evert, Mrs.

Arthur Koehler, both of Chippewa Falls; 35 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Church here, with burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, Tilden.

Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. Bert Ashby Bert Ashby, 94, formerly of St. Paul and Forest Lake, died Sunday morning at Luther Hospital. He had resided at Chippewa Manor, Chippewa Falls, since August. Mr.

Ashby was a retired Army officer. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Boot, Chippewa Falls; a brother, Fred, Sitka, Alaska; two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Golden Funeral Home, with burial in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery.

There will be no visitation before services. Vincent Steves MENOMONIE Services were today here for Vincent C. Steves, 77, Rt. 1, who died Saturday at Memorial Hospital. The Lewisville native married Rosella Topdahl in St.

Paul in 1926. He farmed until five years ago. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ray, River Falls, Grant, St. Paul; four daughters, Mrs. Thomas Hanson, Beaver Dam, Mrs.

Milan Huley, Wauwatosa, Mrs. August Drier, Durand, Mrs. Louis Clayton, Elmwood; a sister, Mrs. August Beyer, Sand Creek; and 16 grandchildren. Burial was in Lewisville Cemetery.
