Ickesburg, Oct. 19. Harry A. Crumbling, District Governor of 14G of Pennsylvania Lions Club, made an official visit to the Ickesburg Lions Club on Thursday evening, October 8. Ickesburg is one of the 70 clubs in District 14G, it being in Zone A of Region 3 in the district.

The District extends from the New York State line on the north, south to Hershey, west to i'hillipsburg, and east to Danville. Mr. Crumbling, who was elected to the office of District Governor at the State Convention in Philadelphia in June, i a member of the Troy Club, is a Fast President, a Past Zone Chairman, and last year was Deputy District Governor of Kegion S. By profession he is an edncator, now being Principal of Troy High School. He is a firm believer in Lionism and is enthusiastic in advocating that Lions put into practice their creed of serving others.

President Ross Titzel introduced District Governor Crumbling and called upon him to address the group. Mr. Crumbling told briefly of the scope and Oct. 15. -Annette Carell, well-known stage, screen and television actress, plays the role of Katherine von Bora, the foftner nun who became Mrs.

Luther, in the dramatic feature film, "Martin Luther," which opens at the Silver Spring Drive-In Theatre on Sunday, October 25, for one week. In a cast dominated by men. Miss Carell has the only female speaking part. The story of the 16th century monk: who defied excommunication and the stake in his demand for religious reform was filmed on location in Western Germany by Louis de Rochemont Associates, producers of "Lost Boundaries" and "Walk East on Beacon," among other hits. Nial'l MacGinnis, distinguished British actor, formerly with the Old Vic Theatre in London, plays the title role.

Much of the casting for the film was done in Germany, where Miss Carell happened to be finishing a role in "Decision Before Dawn." When she heard that the de Rochemont company was casting the "Martin Luther" film at the Bavaria Film Studios in Munich, she rushed over and, without preparation, read a scene from the script with director Irving Pichel. So convincing was she that Pichel and producer Lothar Wolff signed her immediately for the role of Katherine Farm Sale Chester Schlusser will sell his Carroll Township, Perry County, Farm on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7. 1953 at 1:30 P. Oct. 22. iNow that hunters are taking their guns out of locked closets, the next three months may well he termed "open season on children." While all huntimr accidents are needless, the maiming and killing of children as a result of the sport of hunting is particularly tragic. An estimated total of 9,300 shooting mishaps will occur this year. About three-fifths of these deaths and injuries will occur in the field or in public places, the remaining two-fifths will happen because of carelessness with guns in or around the home.

How many children will be involved? Last year the figure topped 2,700 killed and injured. According to the Institute for Safer living of the American. Mutual Liability Insurance Company, parents should be as gun-wary during the hunting seasons as battle-shy vets. If you live in the country or wooded areas, don't let the children play in the fields. Warn the children not to pick up or throw rocks at any shotgun shells they may see on the ground.

Ammunition is not to be played with. Don't let Dad toss his hunting jacket over a chair when he comes in from hunting. All ammunition should he cleaned out of togs, placed beyond the reach of children, and locked up before the hunting clothes are even put away. The hunting gun should be "broken down" and put safetly in its case before the hunter enters the house. When Dad cleans his gun, make sure the children are not present.

Finally, never 'allow a child under the age of 14 to accompany a hunter on a trip. No matter how cautious the child or his parent, there are probably other hunters in- the field. Too many of them are thoughtless and "trigger-happy." If guns and ammunition are no more accessible to children during the hunting season than at other times, and if children are kept out of target range, the headlines need not count so many children among the hunting season casualties again this year. Eeolf and Spo-tts. Clerks Oct.

22, 1953 3t. growth of Lionism, saying it is now the largest, strongest, and most active service organization in the world, and that last year, its 35th, was its best with over 900 new clubs organized in eight new countries, making 45 countries throughout the world and 26,000 new members added, making nearly one half million. Developing the theme further, he told of the far reaching benefits to communities throughout the land brought about by Lionism, through its 150,000 projects carried out last year. Mr. Crumbling- especially commended the Ickesburg Club for their activity program, for their good attendance record, and for their fine representation at cabinet meetings, state and national conventions.

Morrow, Attv. Sept. 24, 1953 6t. von Bora. Does she look like the original Katherine? A check with old 16th century woodcuts and- engravings show that Miss Carell has the edge, aesthetically, over the original.

When a native research worker asked why a lovelier Katherine had been chosen; producer Wolff replied, "That woodcut must have been made when Mrs. Luther had become a tired hausfrau." In the scenes played by Miss Carell, the audience received a glimpse of the romance with Luther, the marriage, the companionship, and homelife of the 16th century reformer and his bride. Miss Carell was recently seen on CBS-TV "Omnibus" program playing with Frederick March in "Don Juan in Hell." She has also appeared with Alfred Drake on "Hollywood Screen Test," with Charlton Heston on "Studio One," and in Gloria Swanson's TV programs. In the legitimate theatre she has played with Spencer Tracy in "The Rugged Path" and with' Julie Harris in "Sundown Beach." The talented actress appeared as a' nun in "Portrait of Jennie" in which Jennifer Jones starred. She has been seen in the "March of Time" series and in U.

S. Signal Corps productions. She has also appeared in numerous stage and screen plays in England and Germany, among the latter Somerset -Maugham's "The Sacred- Flame."
