1 R. J. Nixon. For Commissioner Precinct No. 2 W.

D. Shelley. For Constable Precinct No. 3 Will Morris. 1 The race for commissioner in the second and fourth precincts is very close and especially in the latter.

All returns have been received from this precinct and Von Rosenberg is said to be in the lead by three votes. The official count will have to determine this race. In the second precinct Mr. Shelley claims fifty votes with four boxes to hear from. The races for county superintendent and hide and animal inf-pecror are also neck and neck, according to the precinct returns.

There are yet a number of boxes to hear from and it is hard to name the winners. Owing to yesterday being Sunday the full returns could not be obtained. All efforts to do so were in vain: even the anxious trials of the close candidates. All of the outside boxes will be reported here today and some believe that E. T.

Moore will pass Penn a few votes in the distant boxes, but this Is not very probable. Geo. Matthews got more votes than Moore and Fowler combined, as has been predicted by The Statesman all the while, and it was no surprise to his friends. Corwin carried the county by a big majority and it is not very likely that Faulk will overcome 200 majority in the few district boxes, which were not given in The Statesman Sunday. Jourdan and Calhoun seem to be safe for treasurer and county Judge, respectively.

When seen last night Mr. Brady stateil that with some 200 votes yet to hear from he had a lead of 193 over Faulk. It was also learned that the Julius Johnson people counted on the unreported vote to defeat Searight for hide and animal inspector, Mr. Searight only having some thirty-eight votes lead at present. In the race for county school superintendent Mr.

Will Braiy reports that 'A Cool, comfortable rooms can be obtained at the Avenue hotel for the summer months on very reasonable terms. Apply in person or drop a card to J. E. Hodges, proprietor. body invited.

So far there are fiftv-iour members of the Twenty-seventh session w.ho will be members of the Twenty-eighth legislature. The fact li i many of them desire to cpme back shows that the inducement must be something out of the ordinary. The members of the last legislature were "in so to speak, as they had two jo iat sessions at $5 per day, and the regular session lasted only ninety days. Hiving the members a per diem for sixty days and $2 for only thirty days. It will be seen that the members of the Twenty-seventh were extreiiiiv fortunate in the way of'ae-tual compensation, and that majf be the reason why so many of them desire to return.

With fifty-four old members on hand it should not take the next legislative body very long to get under way. Hotel Empire, New York, noted for Ha restaurant, Its clientele, efficient service and moderate rates. DIRECTORS: H. KIRBY, J. L.
