In January, Gaines sold the business to the L. Richer Co, and retired. Thruout his lifetime he had taken a great interest in harness horses and owned many prominent winners in the grand circuit. Surviving are one daughter and two sons, Mrs, J. Conley, Clarence F.

Gaines, both of Shcrburnc, and Raymond Gaines of Long Beach, CalU, Ten grandchildren and one sister, Mrs, Edward Cahill of Sherburne.
