A Friendly Church A Wtleoms for AH. rsartreev i Is 7 THE fay not ye there are four months and then cometh harvest: behold. I aay unto you. lift up your eyes and look on to the fields for they are white already to harvest. Both that so wet and be that reapetb may Tejoice together.

There never has been a time since Jeaus uttered these words when they could not h-e applied to every hand and people in all the world. The fielda are always white. The harvest time is always here. The hearts of men and womee" everywbef are always hungering for that which Christianity alone can provide. The door into the way of life la always open.

The invitation Is univeraaL "The spirit and the bride ur come: let him thmt hearetb say coma, let htm that ia at hi rat come, and whosoever will, let him take" the water of life freely." It Ja true however, that the forces sometimes converge to make one time propitious than another, even for religious decisions and for the cultivation of the religious life. Eaater ia becoming Increasingly the great harveat time of souls. The season is peculiarly appropriate. All nature ia then aglow with new life. It is then we celebrate the resurrection of Him who came "that wa might have life and that we might have it abundantly." Can we not.

Tha minister alone can not do thla. but by the help of a splendid fomjanjr of consecrated men and women in each-church, the ministers may be able to bripg this entire city under tha influence of such a spirit. Men are everywhere saying that the only hope of the world la in the teaching of the Man of Galilee, that in His life and ministry alone is found tha solution of all present problems, be they international, national, racial, industrial, political or personal.

Pbooe. Mala 7954. Visitors wsicome. wimm if mmm viction that Is well-nigh universal, but a conviction which few persona hmvo courage enough to translate into life. Neither faith nor intelligence ia lalklng.

Men need convic-tiona and courage: they know "that life is more than meat and 'body thajn raiment." that neither the Individual nor society can live by bread alone, but! many men, are lacking in the courage (necessary to apply this knowledge to life. Laymen and laywomen who not only believe- these things, but aeek to live according to these ideals, can do more to win other men and women to Christ than the preachers. In ona church, fifty-four such men and women went forth two and two. making 4 SO calla and winning 123 persona to Christ and tha church in a week. -This wonderful Eaater aeason is also a most appropriate time for the winning of children and young people to the church.

The Sunday School should not be overlooked: it is the church's most fruitful field. "Those thmt seek, me early shall find me," and those who find God early in life very seldom lose him. Church statistics for 1J2J are most encouraging, showing as they do an increaae of nearly TOO. 000 to the memberahlp of churches. Tioubtlesa If the figurea were all the number would be much greater.

It Is interesting to observe that the Increase has been unusually large In some religious bodies in which the fundamentalist and modernist controversy has been waged. This shows how slightly the real work of the church haa been touched by this controversy, and also how true to evangelical Christianity the ministers of these churches are. Few persons know anything about thia controversy and inany who do have no Interest in It. They believe In Jesus Christ as lxrd and Saviour, and seek to live His Ufa. They liaten to oreaching every Sunday that la evanaellcal i in faith and evangelistic in spirit, and tneir own lives.

Tha great prayer of the church should always be, "Thy kingdom come and thy will be done In i earth as It Is in Heaven." To this end the church Is one. and to this task It. should devote Its energies. i CD pastor, will preach on "A Certain Triumph." In the morning the Central Christian Church Delaware and Walnut Sta.
