1. OBITUARIES FALLS COURIER A6 THURSDAY, JUNE 10, 2004 Vicki L. Miller (1953-2004) WATERLOO Vicki L. Miller, 50, of Waterloo, died Monday, June 7, at Allen Hospital of complications after a long illness. She was born July 6, 1953, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Lucian and Marjorie Stanhope Wersinger.

She attended Hawkeye Community College. Ms. Miller was employed at Kwik Star, Jesup. Survivors include: a son, Jason (Melanie) Pates of Philadelphia; two daughters, Katie (Jason) Trueg of Jesup and Mariah (Gary) Olson of Waterloo; five grandchildren; two brothers, Lucian (Karen) Wersinger of Kansas City, and Rickie (Mary) Wersinger of Waterloo; and a sister, Martha Stitchman of Salem, Ark. Preceded in death by: her parents and a grandson.

Perkins, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, June 8, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer. He was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Clarksville, son of Edward A. and Garcie E. Molsberry Perkins.

He married Irene L. Eaton July 25, 1937, in Nashua. She died in December 1999. Mr. Perkins was technician at Petersen Survivors include: Berne M.

Schneider, 99, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, June 8, at Western Home Communities, Martin Center. She was born Nov. 8, 1904, in St. Joseph, daughter of John E. and Maude Ott Manshardt.

She received her B.A. in music from North Central College, Naperville, in 1928, and she married Melvin F. Schneider Sept. 14, 1940, also in Naperville. He died Jan.

11, 1997. Mrs. Schneider taught school in Kentucky, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and for more than 50 years, she assisted her husband in teaching string instruments to grade school students. She also taught private piano lessons and was an organist at several churches. She was also a solo organist and accompanist in the area.

Survivors include: two nephews, Dr. James R. Manshardt of Guadalajara, Mexico, and Dr. Richard M. Manshardt of Honolulu, Hawaii; a grandniece; two grandnephews; and special friends, James and Jeanette Winegarden of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Donald O. Manshardt. Services: will be later with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation; she deeded her body to the Department of Anatomy at the University of Iowa. Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to Schneider Education Plus fund at the United Church of Christ. Raymond C. Beyer (1929-2004) CEDAR FALLS Raymond C. Beyer, 74, of Sebring, formerly of Cedar Falls, died at home Monday, June 7. He was born Nov.

30, 1929, in Mount Carmel, son of Joseph and Crescentia Stangl Beyer. He married Alvina Bellinghausen in Maple River Sept. 12, 1955. Mr. Beyer worked as a letter carrier for the U.S.

Postal Service, Cedar Falls, for many years, retiring in 1989. He also served in the U. S. Navy from 1950 to 1954, during the Korean War. Raymond Survivors include: his wife of Sebring; three Beyer sons, Al (Ruthie) of Aspen, Jim of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Bill (Stephanie) of Bluffton, S.C.; six daughters, Donna (Bruce) Schadle of Hudson, Deb (Jeff) Hoskins of Baxter, Chris (Dan) Dennis of Holt, Jane (Tim) Iversen of West Des Moines, Rose (Tom) Beltran of Leucadia, and Mary (Mike) Martin of Indian Trails, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul Beyer of Carroll and Ed Beyer of Phoenix.

Preceded in death by: eight brothers, Louis, Lawrence, Alvin, Mike, Clarence, George, Joe and Robert; and five sisters, Irene, Evelyn, Louella, Loretta and Clara. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls, with graveside military honors conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will also be one hour WATERLOO Jon Nicholas Lund, 37, of Plainfield, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, June 7, at Rush Copley Medical Center, Aurora, Ill.

He was born Dec. 16, 1966, in Waterloo, son of Jon J. and Sherry Kremmer Lund. He married Sheri Huegel July 28, 1989, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo. Mr.

Lund graduated from West High School in 1985 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 1990 with a B.S. degree. He was a project sales Jon Lund representative for Barnhart Crane and Rigging Company, Ottawa, Ill. before the service at the church Saturday. Memorials: may be directed to the family.

Merton Dale Merton Dale, 78, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center. The body was donated to the anatomy department at the University of Iowa. There will be no services. Mr. Dale was born in Ames and had served in the United States Army during World War II and during the Korean Conflict.

He had lived and worked in the Waterloo area for John Deere retiring after 28 years as a machinist before moving to Indianola in July of 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Dale; and survived by a stepdaughter, Linda Dale of Milwaukee, three brothers, Wayne and Robert of Indianola and Donald of Osceola; one sister, Phyllis McColloh of Des Moines; two stepgrandchildren and 1 stepgreat grandchild. NE IOWA DEATHS Gertrude McGrane (1917-2004) ELMA Gertrude McGrane, 87, of Elma, died Tuesday, June 8, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton, of natural causes. She was born May 27, 1917, in Howard County, daughter of Peter and Rose Murray McGrane.

24, 1925, in Lime Springs, son of Michael and Ida Mau Bronner. He married Darlene Peal Gunhus July 1, 1950, in Cresco. Mr. Bronner was a plumber, working for Fereday Heating and Air Conditioning, Waterloo, for 25 years before operating his own plumbing and heating business in Jesup. Mary Myers WATERLOO William Coon 64, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, June 7, after a sudden illness. He was born Dec. 9, 1939, in Minneapolis, son of Alvae "Bud" and Madelia Goings Coon. He was raised in Iowa, and on Nov.

11, 1961, he married Syble Cooper in Nashua. They later divorced. Mr. Coon worked for John Deere in the foundry. In his spare time, he enjoyed music; he was a drummer in numerous bands.

He also played Santa Claus for the children at Grin and Grow Daycare. Survivors include: a son, Bill (Tracy) of Burnell of William Evansdale; three daughters, Angie (Larry) Neisen and Sara Coon Sr. Waterloo, and Mary Smith, both of Evansdale; a stepson, Justin "JR" Williams of Waterloo; two brothers, Bud (Jan) of Kansas City, and Robert (Donna) of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; and a stepgrandchild. The problem-solving skills students have been studying will come in handy during the internship. The group of students working at each site will be given a problem that a business or organization is actually facing and be asked to develop a real-world solution. Winter said the scope has to be kept small so the students can complete it in six weeks. But the projects have applications to their potential careers.
