New line moulding just received. ITS REALLY problem to figure out how all bAIMa ha Now that the Interscholastlc league high school football race is over, and the bunting ngain crowns the efforts of the Waco Timers, the next event on the program is the selection of all-state mythical elevens.

Since the final outcome of the race proved beyond doubt that by far the better part of it was within district No. 8, and that Temple, Austin and Waco formed the trio of powers in the district, it is but natural that these clubs should come in for the greater portion of all-state consideration. When It comes to relative showings made aeainst the champions the Austin Maroons undoubtedly stand out as the next best team in the state. They went to the Tigers' own gridiron in Waco and there held the Bengals to a two-field-goal margin of victory. Many said after the game that the Maroons really outplayed them, and with the Tigers having the advantage of playing upon their own gridiron, this all the more gives the Austin entry the right to claim second place.

Austin was the only team which can make a claim of outplaying Waco. Contrary to what some said, that the Tigers were off form for the day, several members of the Tiger team have made statements to contradict this. They say that they never played with greater determination to win than they did against Austin. But point to such fellows in the Austin line-up as Nick Gatoura, Melvin Vernon, Jelly Dabbs and Captain Charlie Wolf as the reason that they were unable to better. Oak Cliff was the outstanding team In north Texas.

They won the honors up there, and did it decidedly. But when they came face to face with the champions of district 8, they were considerably more helpless than either Temple or Austin against the same team. Waco smothered Lumpkin, despite the powerful interference built for him. They smothered him even worse than they did Furl and Shull of Temple. But th: was largely due to the fact that they were concentrating on Lumpkin, realizing that once he was-stopped Oak Cliff was stopped.

In selecting our all-state team It is confined to district No. 8 with but two exceptions, those heing Jimmie Higgins of Onk Cliff at guard, and Roy Lumpkin of the same school at fullback. With a backfield composed of Dabbs of Austin, Meadows of Waco, Mason of Waco and Lumpkin of Oak Cliff, there is a combination that includes about all the elements of offensive as well as defensive play. All four of them are bsll-toters extraordinary. It is hard to choose between them for efficiency in this art.

However, all are different types of runners. a big powerful fellow endowed with speed, relies largely upon drive to carry over. And the drive is plenty effective. Dabbs depends upon speed and change of pace mostly. He is about the fastest man in football, and literally runs past his would-be tacklers.

Mason Is the low-running Sine plunger, the field general, and the best passer, a blocker extraordinary, and about the best all-around player of the lot. Claude Meadows has been called the "sidestepping, stiff-arming, hlpping-wiggllng ball-toting fool." It was his ability at the art of broken field running that enabled the Tigers to beat the Wildcats. He Is the safety man, and he can get a punt and shag it back. At ends with a pair of such chaps as Melvin Vernon of Austin and Wildcat Koch of Temple we have a pair that will not be out of the play often. End running becomes a lost art with this pair as guardians of the wing positions.

And added to this they are eide-swipering blocker and excellent pass receivers. They are two cf the most aggressive players in the state. Tackles should be Zackary of Temple and Leyendecker of Waco. While there are a number of good tackles who Have stood out In different games, yet it is doubtful if there are two who have played as consistent a game all season long as the above named pair. It was Zachary for Temple and Leyendecker for Waco who did much to nullify each team's offense in the last as well as the first Temple-Waco game.

Zachary was through Austin's line and upon the back before they could get started, and so was Leyendecker. Leyendecker 1 a big fellow, fast and aggressive, weighing around 185 pounds, while Zachary Is a little smaller, but Just as aggressive. Moving in to the guard positions wo find Ralph Winter of Waco and Jimmie Higgins of Dallas. Ralph Winton baa already been chosen as all-southern guard by 'many critics. Those who have watched his play for the past two years say he is the one most aggressive player of all on LOCKHART, Dec.

Tyson' secret of success I not because he i any superman but becaue he i thorough in his tactic. Kit Carson of Austin High also recognizes this a the ecret to success. A visit to Carson's training camp during the past season was sufficient to establish the fact.

For there he could be seen daily going through fundamental praetioe putting almost all of his tim and energy into teaching hi boy, not how to do one or two thing excellently, but how to do everything in football well. His first-year showing with the Maroons proved the Infallibility of this form of procedure. When he came to Austin he did not go about, as many coaches do, looking for some outstanding material tn other schools, to bring here and build up a great team. But, Instead, he went straight to work to build a good team of the material available and his effort were crowned with considerable success. Next to Waco, it is our opinion that he had the best team In the state.

Bible, head coach of Texas frank Bridges, former ooach of Baylor university; John Bender and Claude Kothgeb, assistant coaches at Texas Matty Bell, head coach at the Christian university In Fort Worth; Paul Tyson, football coach of Waco high school and now Glenn Thistlethwaite of Northwestern In Chicago. However, all of the above named Individuals have not made application for the position. It is said that neither Bible nor Tyson have considered coming to Texas, the rumors In their connection being merely to the effect that they would be eligible for consideration In the event of a vacancy. But It is understood that both Bible and Tyson are satisfied with their present positions, and probably would be adverse to making the move. Aggie Victory Quells Rumor But It Is understood that Bridges, Thistlethwaite, Rothgeb and Bender have signified their willingness to accept the position in the event It was offered to them.

The movement to remove Stewart, which was at a high pitch prior to the Thanksgiving day game with the Texas Aggies, was almost entirely obliterated by the Ixraghorns' decisive victory over the Aggies on that day, and for a time It was thought that Stewart would be retained, and so far as la known at this time he may be. However, the admission on the part of a member of the athletic council that Thistlethwaite has been in conference with the council indicates that there is still a chance of his removal. The athletic council has remained quiet on the matter and will give out no Information officially. The reason for Thistlethwaite a desii to leave the Chicago school again. Henderson declared.
