B4 SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2003 OBITUARIES FALLS COURIER, Forrest R. Jones (1938-2003) WAVERLY Forrest Richard Jones, 64, of Waverly, died Friday, May 16, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center of cancer. He was born July 9, 1938, in Lady Smith, son of Palestine and Florence Miller Jones. Mr. Jones worked as a mechanic for garage in Charles City, then for the Chevy dealer in Nashua and later for Ritchey Pontiac in Waverly.

He then owned and operated his own shop in Waverly for 10 years. Survived by: four sons, Irvin (Katie) and Pete, Jon C. Gronberg (1958-2003) DUMONT Jon Charles Gronberg, 44, of Baker, formerly of Dumont, died Tuesday, May 15, at Crestview Hospital, Crestview, Fla. He was born July 10, 1958, in Waterloo, son of Charles and Georgie Walker Gronberg. He married Denise Gregory in 1981 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

Mr. Gronberg served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was a master electrician, operating his own contracting company. Forrest Jones Survivors include: his wife; a son, Andrew at Jon Gronberg home; a daughter, Samantha Gronberg at home; nd his father and stepmother, Charles and Phyllis Gronberg of Dumont; and a sister, Chris Gronberg of Dumont.

Preceded in death by: his mother. Memorial services: were held at the Dumont New Hope United Methodist Church. His ashes were scattered over Choctawhatchae Bay, between Fort Walton Beach and Destin Island. Memorials: may be directed to the family at P.O. Box 175, Dumont, 50625, with a fund to be established toward the new library.

Kriens 76, of Tama, died Wednesday, May 14, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Dumont, son of Jasper and Allie Folkerds Kriens Sr. He married Elizabeth Rae Truax on July 24, 1946, in Dumont. Mr.

Kriens worked for John Deere, Waterloo; the Chicago North Western Railroad; and was in automobile sales for several years, including Holdenried Ford in Sioux City, Prusha Motors, Horaks, Herhsal Weidner, Hartwigs, Austins Motors and Wes Finch in Grinnell. He also worked as a Pinkerton security guard for Seed January of this year. He was past president of the of Eagles. Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Mary Brower of Tama and Diana (Wayne) Oitzman of sons, David (Brenda) of Des Moines, Daniel (Emily) and Bruce (Donna) of South Sioux City, 20 22 great grandchildren; a brother, Harm of LaPuente, four sisters, Ollie Collins, Mary Ann Burkett and of Dumont, and Margarie Hemmes of Hampton. Hansen (1901-2003) NASHUA Vada E. Hansen, 101, of Nashua, died Friday, May 16, at the Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City, of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 23, 1901, in Mahaska County. She married George Hansen, and he preceded her in death in 1987. She worked in the veterinary office of Drs. Nelson and Waller in Nashua for a number of years.

Memorials: may be directed to the family. Charles F. Plaehn (1921-2003) REINBECK Charles F. "Chuck" Plaehn, 82, of Reinbeck, died Thursday, May 15, at Parkview Manor, Reinbeck, of natural causes. He was born May 6, 1921, near Reinbeck, son of Henry and Emma Thiesen Plaehn.

He married Anna Marie Lauterbach McCulloch Dec. 12, 1947, in Waterloo. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Plaehn worked at the Lincoln Co-Op from 1980 until his retirement in 1983.

Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Janeen (Dale) Danielsen of Dike, Julie (Vern) Knaack of Reinbeck and Janell (Marty) Ramsey of Lincoln; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; ers, Harold, Paul and Kenneth, all of Reinbeck, and Spring Valley, and three sisters, Alta Arp of Bernice Craig of Dike and Lois Wickliffe of Illinois. 4, 1911, daughter of Martin and Elizabeth Mary Kuechenberg Goebel. She went to Loras College, Dubuque, and joined the Franciscan Order of Sisters, becoming Sister Mary Arilda Goebel O.S.F. She was a nurse and teacher, teaching Catholic school in LeMars. She left the convent in the late 1950s and continued to work as a regular nurse in Milwaukee, Seattle, Waterloo, Omaha, Charles City and New Hampton until retirement. Survived by: a brother, Edward (Shirley) Goebel of Colorado Springs, and four sisters, Lyanda Siglin of Seattle, Mary Jane (Ralph) Rausch and Celine (Bud) Scholl, both of New Hampton, and Betty (Del) Rouser of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Gerald Goebel; and a sister, Sylvia Gerardan. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Center, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in New Hampton. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m.

Tegtmeier (1917-2003) SUMNER Reinhardt William Tegtmeier, 85, of Sumner, died Friday, May 16, at Hillcrest Home, Sumner, after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 3, 1917, in Buck Creek, son of William Tegtmeier and Martha Westendorf. He married Letha Hesse, May 18, 1939, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Readlyn.

He farmed near Sumner for 60 years. Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Jolene (Dale) Sumner; a son, Ron (Judy) Tegtmeier five grandchildren; nine great-grandand a sister, Luella Mohlis, of Sumner. in death by: his parents. Irene Goebel Reinhardt Tegtmeier 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, St.

WEST UNION Laurinda Johnson, 76, of West Union, died Thursday, May 15, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, following a short illness. She was born April 27, 1927, near Ossian, daughter of Henry and Julie Moen. She married Myron Johnson May 2, 1945, in West Union.

He died June 1988. Mrs. Johnson graduated from West Union High School in 1944 and obtained a teaching certificate from Upper Iowa University. She taught Laurinda Laurinda Johnson (1927-2003) country school at Dover for three years and Johnson farmed with her husband at various locations, including Waucoma and Clermont. She moved to West Union in 1982 and worked at Bostroms Deli.

Survived by: two sons, Mike Johnson of Polk City and George Johnson of Ossian; two daughters, Barb Lauer of West Union and Verna Sunnes of Hawkeye; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one brother, Hank Moen of West Union. Preceded in death by: her husband; one brother; and three sisters. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, rural West Union, with burial in First Lutheran Cemetery.
