Joslin FURNITURE and CARPET BENTON and EUCUD GOP Sure of One Democrats Send 20 Senate Candidates Into Finals By Tie Frew Twenty Democratic state sen ators entry their pirty standard into the November general elec-tion, while Republicans have only two incumbents in the struggle for control of the Montana Senate next year. The GOP, however, boasts the only unopposed candidate Rep. C. C- Bentz in Carter County.

His assured election gives a nip-and-tuck start to the Senate cam paigns in hall of the state's 56 counties. Counting holdovers ana uentz, Republicans arc certain of 14 seats, one less than the Demo crats. Can Crab Control This means the Democrats can retain control of the Senate by winning 14, or half, of the con tests. Republicans must pick up 15 seats, in addition to the one Benti will occupy, to regain the Senate control they lost In 1956 elections. Democrats entered four repre sentatives in Senate races, but managed to nominate only two of them. The nominees are Arthur N. Jensen of Mineral County and J. D. Mclcher of Rosebud County.

June 14 in the Capitol to officially declare the winners of Tuesday's primary election. The board is comprised of the governor, secretary of state and treasurer. The canvass must be conducted within 15 days after the primary election, and sooner if all returns have been received. Olsen Expecting More Money For Access Roads The expectation that Montana will receive nearly twice the present amount for national for est access roads by was voiced Wednesday by Rep. Arnold Olsen, D-Mont. a statement released Hel ena, Olsen said Montana received million in federal fundi last year for forest roads.

Olsen claims the roads will make more recreation opportuni ties available, will aid the national economy which he says will need an estimated 13 million board feet of lumher two years from now. and will enhance de velopment of watersheds wild life, fishing and range grazing. He said roads built under this proposal would be better and cheaper than those built by tim ber buyers.
