She worked for the Galveston Convention Bureau and worked in the Claims Department of the American Indemnity Insurance Company of Galveston, retiring at age 78 in 1988. John Wesley Amos John Wesley Amos was born in Columbus, Mississippi, on August 1, 1933, to John Wesley Amos and Mrs. Earline Amos. Following a happy childhood and eventual graduation from high school, he was accepted into the prestigious, Tuskegee Institute of Civil Engineering, however, this proposition was preempted by the military during the Korean war period where he successfully served in the U.S.

Army in the 121st Medical Division at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. He was honorably discharged as a medic in 1956. During John's tour in the military, he and Emma Mae Amos were joined in holy matrimony. Their marriage and togetherness flourished for mdre than 44 years. was so happy that John asked me to his bride, and I gladly served him until the end." John and Emma subsequently moved to Akron, Ohio where he worked in the Booming Tire Manufacturing Industry and related construction fields.

John W. Amos eventually retired from the City of Akron Water Department following a diagnosis of cancer on November 1, 1995. Following his retirement, John and Emma moved into the Austin area to enjoy the company of family members who loved them dearly. He fought courageously until God called him home on April 13, 1997 at 5:45 a.m. John Wesley Amos leaves to cherish precious memories a loving wife, Emma Mae Amos; sons, John Curtis Amos, Anthony Amos, Carl Ramonday Amos, Brent Wesley Amos; daughters, Evon Wilder and Linda D.

Edwards; sons and daughters-in-law; Samuel Edwards, Katherine Amos and Sharazzon Amos; sisters, Toad Amos, Mint Sherman, Addie Richards, Anzellar Scott and Ozella Sherman; a host of grandchildren, and other family and friends who will always love and cherish his memory. Services will be held Friday, at 11:00 at the Alice Taylor King Chapel. Burial will at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. Services entrusted to King-Tears.

Julia.Mae Moczygemba Julia Mae Moczvgemba was called by God on April 14, 1997 at the age of 72. She was born in Gillespie County, Texas on September 18, 1924. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and Albert Metzger; her brothers, Paul, Bruno and John; and her sister, Gertrude. Julia was a loving wife and mother, generous of spirit, compassionate and dutiful. She is survived by her loyal husband, Archie; her daughter, Carol Moczy-gemba-Kruhl; her four sons, William, Richard and his wife, Denise, Gerald and James; and by her brother, Lawrence Metzger.

She is the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Stephanie Kruhl, Angela, Jonathan, Joseph Moczygemba and Walter, Ann and Amos Moczygemba. She was a loyal friend to many and gave freely of her time and talents to others. She was a member of Saint Louis Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Altar Guild, Austin Ladies of Charity and the Austin Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a woman of strong faith and instilled that faith in her family. Rosary will be said on Wednesday, April 16, 1997 at 7:30 p.m.

It was in Waco that he met Arleigh Inez Petty, a nursing student at Providence Hospital. They married on November 20, 1938, and drove to Mexico City for their honeymoon the first of many trips. They moved back to Austin in 1940, where they raised their family and enjoyed life together until her death in January 1996.

Enjoying life for Carl included gardening, listening to music, photography, movie-making, grilling barbecued ribs and chicken for the "rummy gang" parties, organizing family get-togethers and keeping his friends and family abreast of important happenings. Carl Stoune will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, family and friends, his faith and Bible knowledge, his belief in fairness, his intelligence, his extraordinary business sense, and his ability to make people laugh by telling the greatest jokes. Mr. Stoune is survived by a son, Michael and wife, Priscilla of Lubbock; their children, Lesley, Kathryn and Jonathan; a daughter, Deanna Cour-reges of China Spring and her son, David; and a daughter, Arleigh De Leon and husband, Hector, of Austin; and their children, Dan, Ben, and Mike. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hector De Leon, Harry Garner, John Stokes, Raymond Williams and anyone who had the pleasure of working with him at Central. The family expresses grateful appreciation to Mr. Stoune's faithful caretakers, Neldon Lindley, the nurses and staff of Retirement and Nursing Center (III) and Dr. Hans Haydon and his associates. Ora Williamson Ora Williamson, age 97, of Dripping Springs, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997. Mrs. Williamson was a life long member of the Dripping Springs Church of Christ. One of the great loves in her life were flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Williamson and daughter, Clarene McNalr.

Mrs. Williamson was a loving and wonderful mother to her sons, Ernest Williamson and wife, Margaret, of Dripping Springs and Dee Williamson and wife, Fran, of Manchaca; daughters, Velma Grundy and husband, Welton, of Dallas, Lou McNair and Doris Walker and husband, Jay, all of Dripping Springs. She is also survived by her sister, Amanda Alderson of Lampasas; ten grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at Harrell Funeral Chapel in Dripping Springs.

Cook- Wctirfntri 6100 North Lamar sTTJ1UCI1. 512454-5611 Ruth Millett Lowry Ruth Millett Lowry, born on February 10, 1912, died in an Austin hospital April 16, 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph L. Millett and Alice I. Millett; by her husband, Dr.

Frederick C. Lowry; by two sisters, Alice Millett Graham and Geneva Millett Little; and by a dear aunt, Ada Millett. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and George Burke; and her son, Judge Peter M. Lowry; by a brother, Ralph L. Millett, Jr.

of Knox-ville, Tennessee; and by her grandchildren, Frederick M. Burke, Kathryn Burke McWilliams, Margaret Millett Stuart Lowry, Mary Pauline Linwood Lowry, and Clara Ruth Lowry. Mrs. Lowry wrote two daily, nationally syndicated newspaper columns for almost three decades, beginning in 1938 at age 26. For much of that time her column was one of the most widely syndicated columns in the country, appearing in over five hundred newspapers in the United States and abroad.

In 1950 she was named by Pageant Magazine as one of the ten most influential women in America. She was an early spokesperson for women and women's issues, and she was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Lamar. i 1 Martin Z. Menchaca Martin Z. Menchaca, 71, of Austin, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997, after a lenghty illness. He was born in DeJ Valle, Texas on January 30, 1926, to Augustine and Juanita (Alvarez) Menchaca.

After serving in the Motor Pool at Camp Mabry during World War II, he was the principal in Construction Company. specialized in all types of concrete construction, for over 30 years until his retirement ten years ago. He was a member of Emmanuel Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Grace Menchaca; five daughters, Dora Orneales, Sharon Walker, Nancy Riley and Geri Willems, all of Austin, Sheila Reeves of Oakland, Maryland; and one son, Titos Menchaca of Mt. Lake, Maryland; eight grandsons and eight granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Wilke-Amey-Clay Funeral Home with Reverend Daniel Arguijo officiating. After the service at the funeral home, the body will be cremated. Congress 442-1446. Max Allen Max Allen, 65, passed away Tuesday morning, April 15, 1997, in an Austin medical center. He died of pneumonia due to recent complications with his cancer treatment. Max arrived at Georgetown in 1993 and soon became known to the local residents as "Mr. Along with partners, Ross and Betty Hester, he had developed the Fountain-wood Estates near Lake Georgetown.

Max was born on November 24, 1931, in Pampa, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army's CIC located at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio from 1954-56 and earned his LLB at the University of Texas in December, 1958. Before moving to Georgetown, Max was a practicing attorney in San Antonio; a part-time farmer in Eureka, Nevada; and legal advisor to his cousin, Bill Allen, who breeds and races thoroughbred horses. Max was also instrumental in the development of the NCOA in San Antonio, Texas.

He was a former Chairman of the Bexar County Republican Party and a deacon of John Calvin Presbyterian Church in San Antonio. He as a member of the Geogetown Noon Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. Among his many talents and hobbies, stargazing was a favorite, and under his guidance, Fountainwood Estates had donated the Fountainwood Observatory to Southwestern University. Max Allen is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Melanie Kirk and son-in-law, Scott of San Antonio, Texas; and son, Mark, of Georgetown, Texas, who has worked closely in the development of the Fountainwood Estates. He is also survived by his cousins, Bill Allen of Miami, Florida, Tony Martin of Midland, Texas, and Lynn Goodman of Mantica, California, as well as the Cooper families of the surrounding areas in Canyon and Amarillo, Texas.

Visitation is Thursday, April 17, 1997, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 18, 1997, at 11:00 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home and interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery.

She was born February 18, 1910, in Galveston, Texas to Angiolina and Ugo Filidei, who preceded her in death. She married Peter Joseph Dolfi April 20, 1942, and resided in Galveston, Texas until 1994, when she moved with her husband Peter to Austin to be near her daughter Karen Dolfi McCarty.

She is preceded in death by Rosa and Arduino Dolfi; beloved mother and father-in-law; two daughters, Sandra Lee Dolfi; sister Leah Grace, Frieda Filidei, Alma Filidei; sister-in-law, CAmile Dolfi McGowan; brother-inlaw, James Grace. Survived by daughter, Karen Dolfi McCarty; two granddaughters: Trista Ryane McCarty and Raina Teal McCarty; sisters.Cecelia Brown, Gena Filidei; sisters-in-law, Ida Dolfi Chestnut; brothers-in law, Pat McGowen nieces and nephews, Ken Brown, Mary Grace LaCoume, Beverly Grace, Orietta Brown Plander, Pat MoGowen John McGowen, Bobby McGowen, Jerry McGowen. Mrs. Dolfi was strong in her Catholic faith and served both at Sacred Heart Church and St. Peter's Church in Galveston, Texas.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Peter's Women's Club, charter member of the Sunnyside Social Club for over 60 years, Past President of the Dominican High School Mother's Club and Chairman of fund raisers and festivals for Sacred Heart Church and School, St. Peter's Church and Dominican High School. Mrs. Dolfi gave tirelessly her efforts and support for the Catholic Church and schools she loved so much.

Mrs. Dolfi was a regular contributor of her time and resources to Our Daily Bread in Galveston and a supporter of the Leukemia Society. He was born September 9, 1938, in Austin to Albert and Medora Vasterling Moreland.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Moreland of Dale; two sons, Wayne Moreland and wife, Denise, of Austin and Bobby Moreland and wife, Louise, of Austin; two daughters Susan and husband, David Willhoite, of Austin and June and husband, Curtis Wilks, of Mustang Ridge; one brother, Thomas Moreland of Burnet; seven sisters, Mamie Boyer of Bertram, Alberta (Sug) Meredith of Manor, Dorothy Pittman of Austin, Bessie Teague, Elgin, Betty King of Elgin, Pearl Ann Boyer of Manor, Marion Briones of Austin. Also 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be today (Thursday) April 17, 1997, at 10:00 a.m.in the Chapel at the McCurdy Funeral Home with Jerry Johnson officiating. Carl Dean Stoune Carl Dean Stoune, 87, of Austin, passed into the arms of the Lord on Monday, April 14, 1997. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Arleigh Inez Petty; his father, Howard Clark Stoune; and his mother, Minnie Mae Dean.

Carl was an only child born on June 30, 1909, in Austin, Texas. He attended Matthews Elementary School until his family moved to Waco in 1916. He graduated from Waco High School in 1927, where he served as class president. He stayed in touch with his cronies, who affectionately called him "Stouney" and in 1977, was honored to plan the Class of '27's 50th and only high school reunion. After high school Carl attended Baylor University and Central City Commercial College while working as a stenographer for Central Moving and Storage.

His career with Central, which began January 1, 1928, saw him become Vice President in 1938, and then President from 1952 until his retirement in 1979. When asked how he was able to achieve such success, he would say, "They made me president when they figured out I was better at giving orders than taking them!" During these more active years, Carl was president; of Christene Marie Felan Christy was called back to heaven by our Almighty Father on April 15, 1997. She was the most loving daughter, sister, and aunt. More than anything else, she was a good friend to all who knew her, loved her, and played sports with' her. She was an avid athlete whose joy was playing softball and soccer with the City of Austin.

Her smile will be missed by all. She is survived by her parents, Lonzo and Lori; brother, Tim; sister, Jennifer, brother-in-law-to-be, Duaine Tealer; niece, Niyra Felan Tealer; and nephew, Kevin Thompson II. He was a teacher, a rancher, a State of Texas employee for 40 years, and a loving friend and helper to many. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.
