Legion Auxiliary Preparing for 1948-1949 Season -Beta Sigma Phi Council Is Formed; Elects Executives Bakersfield Council of Beta Sigma Phi met last week at the home of Mrs. W. Porter for election of officers. The council is comprised of the four chapters of Beta Sigma Phi, including Alpha Alpha, Xi Beta, Eta Omega and Xi Alpha Alpha. Officers chosen include Mrs.

J. E. Boynton, president; Sirs. Lowell Ball, vice-president and Mrs. D.

G. Lane, secretary-treasurer. The council is to be comprised of the president, junior past president and one elected member from each chapter. The meetings will be held the first Thursday of each month beginning August 5. Formal installation of officers is planned for later in the summer.

Attending the meeting were the Mesdames Elton Brown, Richard Droege, Arline Wilkins, Fern Adams, W. Alan Harrison, D. G. Lane. W.

Porter, J. E. Boynton, Lowell Ball and Martha Richmond. Bone-Gragg Wedding Service Is Held at Home of Pastor The home of the Reverend and Mrs. E.

F. Frye of 2520 San Emidio street provided the setting for a double ring ceremony at 8 p. m. July 15 uniting in marriage Miss Sue Ann Bone and Ray Gragg. The Reverend Elwood Frye performed the ceremony in the presence of a small group of friends and relatives.

The bride wore a white crepe dress and carried a white Bible. Her corsage was of pink carnations groom, who wore a rose-colored pink lace gloves and headpiece. Mrs. Gragg is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Chester Bone of 83o street and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Gragg of Rosedale.

The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents at 835 street where a two-tier wedding cake was sliced and served.

The bride was graduated from Bakersfield High School and has been employed the last three years at the Kern County Free Library intermediate typist in tae office. Mr. Gragg was graduated from Bakersfield High School and is now attending Bakersfield College, He spent three years in the army air forces. Pre-nuptial showers for the bride were given by Mrs. Lafayette Banes, Mas.

Marie Ramey, Mrs. L. J. Frye and Mrs. Paul Bowser.

Members of the White Shrine Social Club were entertained recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Olon Bryan, 327 South Chester avenue. The tables were appointed with pastel flowers and candles. A potluck dinner was served.

The business meeting was presided over by Mrs. Thomas Riggs, president. Entertainment was arranged by Mrs. Martin Donnallan, assisted by Mrs. Bryan.

Readings were presented by Mrs. Hector Hollis. They included "Deep in the Heart of Texas" and "Magpie and Jiggs." Lee Middleton entertained with music. Thompson of Bakers Mrs. T. field. Beautiful Bride For her wedding the bride selected a white organdy gown with a short train. She carried a bouquet of white rose buds and stephanotis.

Her only ornament was a strand of pearls which were a gift of the bridegroom. Mrs. Alan Brillliarr, sister of the bride, wore a gown of yellow organdy and carried white daisies. She was the bride's only attendant. Raymond Waite served as best man.

Miss Searcy attended Baylor College at Waco, Texas. Native Son Mr. Thompson was born in Bakersfield and attended schools here. After being graduated from East Bakersfield High School, he entered Notre Dame University as a premedical stiidenr. While there he was a member of Academy of Science.

He is a member of Phi Beta Pi medical fraternity. Both Mr. and Mrs. Thompson will return to the University of Arkansas Medical School this fall where they are seniors. A reception was held at the home of the bride's mother following the ceremony.

After their wedding trip the young couple will be at home at 1518 Scott street, Apartment 7, Little Rock. 0. E. S. Holding Final Meeting Security Chapter No.

426, Order of the Eastern Star, will convene at 8 p. m. Thursday in the Masonic temple with Mrs. Martin Donnallan and Robert Harrision, worthy matron and patron, respectively, presiding. This meeting will be the last for the chapter until the fall.

Refreshments will be served during the evening by Mrs. R. E. Davidson and Mrs. E.
