Mr. J. Patterson, of Calcutta, died suddenly the other day. Captain John Cowen died in Melbourne on June 18, aged 62. Mr.

William Eyres died in Velore, Ballarat, on Juno 17, other day. Mr. Enslie, for many years British Consul at Kobe, and Judge of the British Court at lliogo and Osaka, died the other day. Mr. Michael Reddan, a Victorian Colonist of 49 years, and a resident of Footscray 41 years, died there on June 20, aged 77.

Captain Walter Robert Higginson, of the Colonial Service, died at Lagos of fever on Juno 22. Mr. Stanley Wintle, Inspector of Police in Travancore, died at Trivandrum on July 8, aged 42. Miss Williams, officiating Lady Superintendent at Kiddcrpore House, Calcutta, died the other day. The Rev.

T. Speed, late head master of the Combermere School in Barbados, died on July 21. Dr. W. Arthur Brebner, Health Officer of Georgetown (B.G.), died there on July 8, aged 44.

Mr. Octavius Chaftey, one of the pioneers of tho Tamworth district, died at Tintinbull on June 18. Arthur Harvey Davis, of tho Bombay Army, died at Beckenham on July 31, aged 50. Mr. William Bloor, a South Australian colonist of 42 years' standing, died in Adelaide the other day.

Mr. Michael Mathias Perl, a Victorian Colonist of 44 years' standing, died in Melbourne the other day. Lieutenant William Ashburner, of the Dorsetshire Regiment, died at Bangalore on August 3, aged 20, Mr. William Howard Year wood died at the Harrow, St. Philip, Barbados, on July 10, much regretted.

Mr. William Fox, a Victorian Colonist of 5 (5 years' standing, died at Oakleigh, Melbourne, on June 23, aged 84. Miss Nina Pearmain, the well known South African actress, died at Johannesburg the other day, much regretted. 07 Dr. John Coverdale, for 00 years a resident of Tasmania, died at Hobart the other day.

He was a native of Kedgeree, in Bengal, and was the oldest J.P. but one in Tasmania. Mr. Thomas Crabbe, for many years head of the legal firm of Crabbe, Cohen ev Kirby, of Bendigo (Vic), died the other day in Melbourne, lie was an old Colonist of 50 years' standing. The Rov.

John T. McMahon, missionary of tho Methodist Episcopal Church, died at Dwarahat, Kumaon, on July 5, aged 53. He was a veteran of the American Army in 18G2 -(H. Mary Domett, widow of the late Alfred Doi tho well-known New Zealand poet, and at one time North on July 31. Mr.

J. D. Hughes, of Blackall died tho other day, much regretted. He was a stock and station agent, and was well known as a contributor to many of tho leading papers in Queensland. Dr.
