Jeff Godlis, Channel 42's news director, stressed that none of the giveaway promotions will appear during the editorial portion of the newscasts. In April, Godlis announced several key hirings, including Daniel Plante, a reporter for KTBC Channel 7 in Austin and KDFW in Dallas before moving to Omaha, Neb. Plante will occupy one of the station's anchor positions. Also hired in April were sports-caster Andy Liscano of Sacramento, former Today Show substitute weatherman Cliff Morrison, most recently of Denver; and Christie Fletcher of Corpus Christi. Additional staff hirings were announced Tuesday, including Cindie Brooks, Channel 42's news update anchor, who will be a weekend weather anchor, and Dan Robertson of KTRE in Lufkin, who will be a third weather anchor.

Also hired were Terri L. Chappell, former anchor for the Travel Network in San Francisco; Shaun Cherise Robinson, a former anchor and medical reporter in Milwaukee; Rosenda Rios, an anchor-reporter for KENS in San Antonio; and sportscaster Noah Finz of KEYT in Santa Barbara, Calif. When K-EYE's news team makes its debut Sunday night July 2, it will be huddled around a futuristic set that includes a 360-degree rotating desk, a 9-by-9-foot video cube wall, a two-story newsroom backdrop and a 14Moot tall, three-dimensional model of the city. I fed in the U.S. Army in June 1939.

Hjs military career spanned three decades, and was mostly spent at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Sam served with the 38th Field Artillery Battalion during World War II in 1944 and 1945. The battles and campaigns he was Involved in include Nor-! mandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received the Bronze Star Medal at this time. Sam revisited Europe, along with his wife and children, when he served with the Headquarters U.S.

Army Signal Command, in Heidelberg, from 1956 to 1961. The years in Europe provided the family with many happy and unique experiences, and friendships with several German families facilitated by Sam's fluency in German. Following his retirement from the Army in 1969, Sam worked as Employment Manager at Villa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio. Sam always enjoyed an excellent reputation in the workplace and was well-liked by all who knew him. One of his officers in the Army described Sam as "one of the most outstanding noncommissioned officers that I have had the pleasure of serving with." Though he earned his living doing paperwork, Sam never left the country in his heart.

He was a tireless gardner, spending every evening after work tending his flowers and vegetables. He derived deep satisfaction from growing things and working with the soil. He was also a musician throughout his life, playing in country bands as a young man, playing the accordian in Europe, and playing the guitar in the evenings at home. Sam's life will be celebrated in a service on Thursday, June 1, 1995, at 11:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church, 5714 Callaghan Road in San Antonio with Pastor Tom Dietzel officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.

Mrs. Robertson was born August 4, 1903, near Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Mrs. Robertson was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Austin and a member of the Susanna Wesley Class.

She served on the Westminster Manor Food Service Committee and was honored by the Westminster Manor Health Care Center for her services over the years. I Mrs. Robertson is survived by her daughter, Jean Coffey and husband, I George; grandsons, Allen Coffey and his wife Sylvia and great-grandson Grant, Robert Coffey and his wife Eve-I lyn and great-grandchildren Michael and Corinne, John (Jack) Coffey and his wife Catherine and great-granddaughter Christin; and granddaughter, Karen Kehle and husband, Peter. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, in the Chapel at Westminster Manor with The Reverend Richard M. Hochstedler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor the memory of Mrs. Robertson, may make memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church, 1201 Lavaca (78701). Arrangements are under the direction of Amey Funeral Home, 7811 Rock-wood, off W. Anderson Lane. 452-4001.

ErwinH. "Sam" Stolleis Sergeant Major Erwin H. "Sam" Stol-leis (Retired) passed away May 27, 1995. He had been a resident of Trinity Lutheran Home, Round Rock, Texas, since 1987 where he was lovingly cared for by the excellent staff. The family is deeply grateful to present and past staff members for the many kindnesses shown Sam over the years.

Sam was born October 17, 1915, in DeWitt County and made his home in San Antonio for over 40 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Henry StoUeis; his wife, Virginia Stolleis; and his brothers, Arnold and Wilbert Stolleis. Sam is survived by his son, Patrick Stolleis of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Roger Huffman of Cedar Park; and his daughter, Mary Jane Stolleis of Austin. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Oswald and Betty Stolleis of Corpus Christi; his sister and brother-in-law, Trula and Roy Kuester of Cuero; his sister-in-law, Ema Stolleis of Se-guin; and several nieces and nephews. Sam left the family farm in Lindenau, Texas, in 1936, to enroll in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Kenedy, Texas.
