He was at home with his family after a five-month battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer. Neal was born November 16, 1942, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Alonzo Burkett Holifield and Vera Dosia Cockrell Russum Holifield. He married Diana Kate Sledge on September 23, 1978, and they had two sons, Nicholas Sledge Holifield and Andrew Sledge Holifield. In addition to his wife and sons, Neal is survived by his sister, Vera Merle Fredrickson; and nephew, Stephen Fredrickson, both of Tallahassee, Florida; brother-in-law, Alfred Brecland of Biloxi, Mississippi; and niece, Karen Andrews of Mount Olive, North Carolina. As the youngest of a large blended family, Neal was predeceased by most, including sisters, Doris Brecland and Frances Andrews, and brothers, A.

B. Holifield, Curtis Lavon Holifield, Fred Russum and Herbert Russum. After the death of his parents in 1958, Neal moved to Houston, Texas, to live with his sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Alfred Brecland. He graduated from Bellaire High School in 1960, and attended Rice University. After serving in the United States Air Force, Neal earned a B.A.

in political science and history from the University of Southern Mississippi and moved to Austin to attend law school at The University of Texas. He received his J.D. degree in 1982, after being admitted to the Texas Bar in 1978. At the time of his death, Neal was Executive Director of the Texas Cosmetology Commission. Over the last three decades he had also worked at the Texas Department of Health, the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Legislative Council, Lockheed, North East ISD, and Austin Community College.

Neal was a man of many loves and interests. His priority was his family and he was a wonderfully loving husband and father. He enjoyed computers, photography, organ music and following the Westlake High School Band. He always wanted to be a cartoonist or organ builder. Neal was known for his boundless ability to remember a joke for any occasion.

His most recent affection was for his Labrador puppy, Tallulah, who gave him great joy. His greatest pride was in his sons. A memorial service will be held at Highland Park Baptist Church, 5206 Balcones Dr. at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2002, with Dr.

Stephen Lucas and Dr. Ray Burchette presiding. Lamar, Austin 452-8811 Anne Egdorf Bloomer Anne Bloomer, age 74, a longtime resident of Abilene, Texas, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in Austin, Texas. Mrs. Bloomer was born on September 30, 1927, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Kathleen and Dr. Otto Charles Egdorf. Mrs.

Bloomer was preceded in death by her parents. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Geology in 1948, and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She married Dr. Richard R.

Bloomer at the University of Virginia on June 7, 1948. The couple moved to Abilene in 1952, and opened an office as independent petroleum geologists. They retired on Lake Travis in 1992. Mrs. Bloomer was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and a sustaining member of the Junior League.

Dr. and Mrs. Bloomer were members of the University of Texas Little-field Society, Chancellor's Council and UT Lamp. She is survived by her husband, Richard R. Bloomer; a daughter, Carol Bloomer Nelson and son-in-law, Dr.

William E. Nelson of Dallas; a son, Dr. Charles R. Bloomer and daughter-in-law, Lisa R. Bloomer of Abilene; and four grandchildren, Laura Nelson, Caroline Nelson, Lindsey Bloomer, and Richard Bloomer.

A memorial service will be held at a future date in Abilene, Texas. Memorials may be made in her honor to Planned Parenthood of Texas Capital Region, 1209 Rosewood, Austin, Texas 78702. Jewel was a long-time employee of the original Night Hawk Restaurant on South Congress Avenue.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Ray Dee Windsor; daughter, Sammie Grumbles and husband, Ed; son, Dannie Brownlow; stepson, Ray Dee Windsor five grandsons and their wives; and two great-grandchildren, all of Austin. Also, sister, Eunice Duty of Tyler, Texas; brothers, Gus Fogle of Columbus, Texas, and Bill Fogle of Austin, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a wonderful husband, father, son and brother. We will miss him dearly, but are glad his suffering is over. He was welcomed into God's kingdom by his son.

Brad, and they are together, again. John was born September 7, 1944, to Lawrence and Ruth Mount in Oak Park, Illinois. He moved to Texas when he was 21 and joined Austin Police Department. Fie served proudly for 27 years before his retirement in March 1995. He loved being a police officer and loved those with whom he proudly served.

He especially loved those years he spent in the Traffic Office. After retirement, John secured a job with Round Rock Independent School District as a Job Coach. He was only able to work less than a year with the kids in the program, but he enjoyed every minute spent with his kids. John often said his time with "his" kids was some of the happiest of his life. John is survived by his wile, Cindy Mount of Liberty Hill; son, Eric Mount of Leander; son, Bobby Mount of Liberty Hill; daughter, Tracy of Piano; and one granddaughter, Jessica Alyssa, of Piano; twin sisters, Mary Mount of Austin and Kathy Davis and husband, Bob of San Diego, California; aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Joe Mount of Chicago, Illinois; nephew, Scott Mount and wife, Leslie of Cedar Park; niece, Diane Cantrell and husband Kevin of Grapevine; nieces and nephews from the Snowden family, too numerous to mention, but certainly not forgotten.

You are so precious to us. John was preceded in death by one son, Bradley Wayne Mount; brother, Robert Charles Mount; and his father and mother, Lawrence and Ruth Mount. Louis Frank Olivarez and Antonio Garcia Jr. Louis Frank Olivarez, 23, and his brother, Antonio Garcia 16, both of Manor, died Sunday morning. May 19, 2002, from a car accident. Frank is survived by parents, Manuel and Linda Lopez; by Daniel and Margie Heredia, who raised him; grandmother, Maria Castillo; great-grandmother, Herminia Olivarez, one year old son, Isaac Olivarez and Isaac's mother, Amy Olivarez; brothers, Lewis Ledezma, Alex Ledezma and Leon Heredia; sisters, Yolanda Aguirre and Vicky DeLeon; niece and nephew, Aleesa and Matthew Ledezma, as well as other nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, Lupe and Frank Olivarez and Helen and Pete Martinez; other relatives and close friends, including the Ballard and Salazar families. Ricky was born on October 1, 1982, in Austin, Texas, to Mary Ann Her-rera and Ricky Colunga. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and "daughter" Brianna Colunga. He was preceded death by grandfather, Albert Colunga; and uncle, John Herrera, both of Austin. He is survived by grandmother, Felis Colunga of Austin; and his mima, Mary Herrera and grandpa, Fidel Herrera, sisters, Tiffany Herrera, Angelica Colunga, Reyna Herrera, Sophie Martinez; and brother, Johnny "J.J." Rodriguez. Ricky was born premature.

Boo-Boo fought to survie the first few hours of life. During his teenage years, he developed a strong and loving heart. His sympathetic compassion was felt by everyone. If you were broke, he'd give you his last dime. If you needed something else, he'd find a way to help you out.

Ricky was a loyal friend through thick and thin. He was always there, no matter what. Boo-Boo's life was hard at times, but he always hoped for the best. He was a unique individual and will be deeply missed as he starts his new life in heaven. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Angel Funeral Home.

Sperber, 83 years young, and a longtime resident of San Antonio, Victoria, San Marcos, and Austin, died on May 18, 2002, at 3:05 a.m. in San Antonio, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Judmaier Sperber; and his infant daughter, Carolyn Louise Sperber. Survivors include his son, Frank R. Southers and wife, Linda; grandsons, Frank William Southers and wife, Chris, James S. Southers and wife, Michelle, and Randy Southers; niece, Gloria Brier and her husband, Michael, and children, Brandi Brier and Candace Johnson and her husband, Brett; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Marlow, and Betty Perez and husband, Rene; and numerous other nieces and nephews-in-law. Bill Sperber was born November 18, 1918, to Arthur George Sperber and Clara Wantzloeben Sperber in San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from Brackenridge High School.

Bill Sperber served in the United States Air Force in World War II and the Korean War, and was discharged as a Staff Sgt. in 1952. His employment as an auditor included working for Civil Service at Ft. Sam Houston, Friedrich Refrigeration Company, and the Texas Employment Commission (San Antonio, Victoria, Bay City, and Austin). Among the many honors Bill received during his lifetime, he most valued his service as Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America at St.

Peter's-St. Joseph's Children's Home in San Antonio, and his service in attaining the 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus in Victoria, Texas. Bill Sperber and his wife, Mary Lou were always very active and giving of their time, talent, and love to civic and religious organizations, too numerous to identify. Services will be held in Victoria and San Antonio. In Victoria, a Rosary was held on Tuesday, May 2L at 10:00 a.m.

followed by services at Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria, with the Rev. Greg Korenek officiating. Victoria pallbearers are Daniel. L. Jalufka, Dr.

R. A. Stevenson, Franklin Neisner, John Stevenson, Russell Fox, and Jimmy Hobbs. Services in San Antonio at St. Gerard's Catholic Church, 1523 Iowa will be at 11.00 a Wednesday, May 22.

"Glenn" Dragoo, age 83 of Austin, Texas, passed away, Monday, May 20, 2002. Glenn is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie (Cox) Dragoo; brother and sister-in-law, Gayle and Jean Dragoo of Gruene, Texas. His surviving children include daughters, Mar-cy Betak and husband, David of Taylor, Texas, and Cathy Weber of Pflugerville, Texas. Surviving grandchildren include Shelley Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, Cory Littlepage and Lee Betak of San Marcos, Texas, Von Weber of Austin, Texas, and Sandy Weber of Pflugerville, Texas. Mr. Dragoo was preceded in death by his grandson, Lance Hunter on March 27, 1986. Glenn was born November 9, 1918, in Holland, Texas. He served with pride in the U.S. Army under General George S.

Patton, obtaining rank of Lieutenant Colonel in World War II. He was awarded the following citations: Silver Star, Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal, and the American Theater Service Medal. Glenn was a Mason and a member of the Great Hills Baptist Church. In 1969, he moved his family from Hobbs, New Mexico, to Austin, Texas. The family will receive friends at Cook-WaldenCapital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas, from 6:00 p.m.

(512) 419-7224 Andrew William Alsup August 11, 1979 May 19, 2002 Andrew William Alsup, 22, died early Sunday, May 19, 2002, in a car accident. Andrew was born in Austin on August 11, 1979. He was the only child of Jim Alsup and Rebecca Jones, lie graduated from Austin High School in May 1998 and was to graduate from Texas Tech University in December 2002.

He made his family proud in the way he was coming into his own wisdom. He was particularly proud of achieving a 4.0 grade average in his last semester, and was an active member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. I le is survived by his mother and step-father, Rebecca Jones and Joe Dohcrty, and his father and stepmother, Jim and Debbie Alsup; and step-sisters, Caroline, Sally and Annie McWilliams. He is also survived by his grandfather, Ace Alsup, Jr. of Austin; grandmother, Carolyn Reed Jones of San Angclo; his aunt and uncle, Dr.

Ace and Nan Alsup, and cousins, Josh, Rachel, and Rebecca Alsup; all of Austin; his aunt and uncle, Ed and Penny Bane, and cents-' ins, Ali and Karli Bane of Andrews, Texas; uncle, Tim Jones of Portland, Oregon; and special friend, Cari Schneider, of New Braunfels. Andrew was sweet, with a kind and gentle soul. There was a special place in his heart for cats. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Andrew loved sports.

He grew up playing soccer and baseball. He pitched in the Texas State Little League semi-finals and played on the Austin High baseball team. He was an avid University of Texas Long-horn fan. He played on his fraternity's team in a number of intramural sports, and led his fraternity to the overall 2002 Texas Tech Fraternity Championship as the Intramural captain.
