THE THIRD AND CONCLUDING VOLUME OF PROFESSOR MASPERO'S GREAT; WORK ON THE History of the of the It ia entitled "THE PASSING OF THE EMPIRES/' and brings down the history of Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, Persia, Media, &c., to the victories of Alexander the Great. Among other things of interest to Bible Students it deals with the circumstances attending the Captivities of Israel and Jndab, and throws much light on the historic references in the Prophets. The great work which Professor Maspero has just brought to completion is a monument of scholarship and energy. T H~E HOLT GOSPELS.
