Pi Omega Pi Will View Typing Device WASCO Union High School's typing instructor Joseph Drop will be the center of attention Wednesday evening, Feb. 17, at the University of Southern California when he demonstrates a typing device he has invented to Pi Omega Pi, national business education fraternity. Drop will demonstrate the device which he has developed and will also be one of five members on a panel discussion regarding typewriting procedures and techniques. Drop's presence at' the chapter's meeting was requested I by Dr. Albert C.

Fries, chairman of the business education depart- 1 ment at USC. Drop has worked out a large icale typewriting keyboard which can be mounted on a classroom wall and used for instruction purposes. An instruction control box enables him to light up any letter or combination of letters. The device is intricately wired in order to make a multitude of letter combinations possible. Drop's work has attracted attention throughout the San Joaquin Yal-j lev and the State of California.

jWhitaker. Desert Youth Considered for Movie Role CHINA Dodge, a former Navy station employee and a graduate of Burroughs High School, is being considered for a role in the motion picture, "Ten Kilometers to Palermo," scheduled to go into production in Italy the latter part of April. Dodge has been approached by Roma Films, an independent Anglo-American motion picture company, to portray the part of a stranded American youth who is befriended by a family in the Italian town of Palermo. For the past four months, he has been seen in the stage play, "Family Portrait." which has been touring the Western states. Officials of the film company who saw him in the role of the brother of Jesus in the stage play tabbed him as a likely prospect for a part in their coming motion picture.

Dodge is uncertain whether he will be able to take advantage of this opportunity since he recently was called for his pre- induction Army physical examination. While a student at Burroughs High School, he wrote and directed an original radio show that was broadcast, using local talent. STUDENTS DISCUSS Democracy Work" was the subject of the panel discussion group of Burroughs High School students who appeared recently on the program of the China Lake branch, American Association of University Women. The students '(left to right) are Jackie Schroedter, Sally Cashore, John Holmes, Bob Weinland, panel chairman; Sharen Pinkertpn, Alan Paulsen and Roger Evans. Not pictured is Joy Nelson, another panel member.
