The rain Monday came very opportune ly for the growing crop of figs, many of whiob, owing id the drought, were falling off.

It may be suggested to those who have fig trees on their premises that as the roots are almost on tbe snrfaoe of the ground, by boxing in an area aronsd them and filling it tip with earth to the depth of six inches, the fruit of the trees in very dry weather would be improved Hundreds of bushels of green tomatoes are sent off daily from Mobile! to the cities of the west Packed green and wrapped in papers, they can be carried long distances and reach tuei destina-' tion in good condition. It looks like business td peep into ft produce shipping warehouse and see the tomatoes before or after they are packed.
