B4 Austin American-Statesman Saturday, February 13, 1993 This section is recyclable Deaths Suspect sought after shooting 62-year-old victim was robbed, hospitalized American-Statesman Staff Officers were searching Friday night for a man who robbed and shot a 62-year-old man at a North Austin furniture business, Austin police said. The victim, Albert Costilla of the 6100 block of Club Terrace, was in serious condition at Brack-lenridge Hospital, where he was taken fev medical helicontpr, said hospital spokesman Larry BeSaw. Costilla suffered two gunshot wounds to the chest from a small-caliber handgun about 4:20 p.m. at Economy Furniture Industries, 9315 McNeil Road, police said. Costilla was robbed of a small amount of cash during the shooting in a warehouse at the business, police said.

Police were looking for a former co-worker Costilla's. He was described as white, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall with a slight build. He has long, wavy light-brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue or gray short-sleeve shirt, brown pants and a blue or gray baseball hat, police said. She is survived by her husband, Leonard C. Pazderny; two children, L.C. (Chuck) Pazderny Jr. and Jean Smith, both of Austin; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Westlake United Methodist Church.

Arrangements by Weed-Corley Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar. 452-8811. Nell Brumley Nell Brumley, age 57, of San Marcos died February 11, 1993, at a San Antonio hospital. She was born March 7, 1935, in Driftwood, Texas.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Brumley and Kirk T. Brumley, both of San Marcos; one daughter, Karyn Brumley of Wimberley; three brothers, Billy Ray Watson of Manchaca, George Watson of Lufkin, Texas, and Bob Watson of Austin; and three sisters, Mary Joe Fischer of Humble, Juanita Massey of Pueblo, Colorado, and Norma Jean Jones of Dripping Springs. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM February 13, 1993, in Pennington Chapel. Service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 14, 1993, at the Dripping Springs Methodist Church with Reverend Cliff Flick officiating. Burial will be at Phillips Cemetery in Dripping Springs, Texas.

Admired by who knew her as a woman of great dignity and compassion, she leaves us with innumerable memories of love and laughter.

Orlena had a deep spiritual bond with the Lord and served Him faithfully in all areas of her life; especially through her many years of service and worship with White Hall Methodist Church. Orlena was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Bob Self in 1987. She leaves to mourn, her mother, Tirie Helge of Round Rock; daughter, Sheryl Self of Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lisa Self of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; sister, Avenell Perry of San Francisco; brothers, Travis Helge of Austin and W.R. Helge of McAllen, Texas. She also leaves the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Michael, Hunter and Austin; and her very special friends, Joyce Findley, Gertrude Moody and Dickie Lunsford.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 3:00 PM, at White Hall United Methodist Church with Reverend Bruce Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at White Hall Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers are Charles Holmes, Alan Holmes, Lance Schumacher, Paul Findley, Gene Waters and Scott Lamar. Ashley of Llano died at his home on Wednesday afternoon, February 10, 1993, at age 88. Services will be at Waldrope-Hat-field Funeral home in Llano Saturday, February 13, 1993, at 2:00 o'clock with burial at the Gray Family Cemetery near Cherokee. Ashley was born in Cherokee, San Saba County, Texas, on May 15, 1904, to Mattie Gray Ashley and W.A. Ash-' ley, a pioneer ranching family. He graduated from San Saba High School, Texas Christian University and Cum-'berland Law School.

He married Cynthia Johnson in 1928, and they were married for 57 years. He was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. Ashley practiced law with his father-in-law, J.M. Johnson in San Saba and then moved to Llano when he was elected district attorney in 1932. In 1944, Ahsley was appointed by Governor Coke Stevenson to serve on the State Board of Control, where he became chairman.

He was appointed First Assistant Attorney General and in 1948, he was elected to the State Senate where he served for 10 years. During this period, Ashley was named Poet Laureate of Texas. After his Senate terms, Ashley was again elected District Attorney of the 33rd Judicial District. In his later years, he had a renewed interest in writing and speaking and was the featured speaker at the first Ranch Heritage Center National Cowboy Symposium at Texas Tech and the Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada, and he appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny His published works were several additions to That Spotted Sow and Other Hill Country Ballads, A Front Seat in Heaven and Origin and Decline of the Texas Hill Country Razorback. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Texas Christian University for over 40 years.

He was a longtime member of the Lions Club. Ashley was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Johnson; his parents; two sisters; a brother, who died in childhood; and a brother, Reuben Ashley. He is survived by a daughter, Adele Ashley Waide and son-in-law. Jack B. Waide of Millersview, Texas; a son, Carlos C.

Ashley Jr. and wife, Jean-eane, of Llano; five grandchildren. Dr. John Ashley Waide of Nashville, Tennessee, Cynthia Waide of Austin, Susan Waide of Austin, Blake Ashley of Atlanta, Georgia, and Caroline Sledek of Houston; and one great-granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Waide. The family requests that memorials be made to the Llano County Library System or a favorite charity.

Funeral services conducted by Wal-drope-Hatfield Funeral Home in Llano, Texas. Rosemary Carleton Rosemary Carleton, age 64, of Liberty Hill, formerly of Austin, died Friday, February 12, 1993. She is survived by her brother, Robert Carleton of Liberty Hill; niece, Sue Fuller and husband, Alex, of Austin; nephew, Frank Carleton and wife, Chris, and their children, Natalie and Peter of Scottsdale, Arizona; and many cousins and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Her body will lie in state at the Weed-Corley Funeral Home until 12:30 PM Monday.

Born in Ft Worth, Texas, February 28, 1960, he graduated from Southwest School and the University of Texas at Austin.

He is survived by his mother. Kathy Perry of Little Elm, Texas; his father, I Robert A. Massey of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Mary Kay Massey of Spring Branch, Texas; his twin brother, Arthur H. Massey of Ft Worth, Texas; two nieces; a nephew; and his compan- ion, Hal Osborn of Pine Valley, California; and many dear friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be -held Saturday.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday in the Colonial Chapel at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, Lamar location. Interment will be in the Austin Memorial Park.

Rebecca was born in Odessa, Texas on July 23, 1971. During her short, but full and happy life, she accomplished many things. She attended elementary school in Del' Rio, Texas, through the fourth grade. She also attended elementary school, Crockett Junior High and Odessa High School in Odessa, Texas. She attended Del Valle High School in her sophomore, junior and senior years graduating in 1989.

Rebecca, among her many accomplishments, was honored by the Optimist Clubs of Odessa. She was chosen as a member of the Crockett Junior High Choir for membership in their "Club She will always be remembered for her love of dance. She was a dance student from the age of seven. She was captain of the Del Valle Drill Team and under her leadership the drill team won the highest ratings in University Interscholastic League competition. She was chosen as "Outstanding Solo Dancer," and was chosen to be a member of the "Superstar Drill Team" that performed in the "Aloha Bowl" in 1987.

Rebecca was named to the "Who's Who of American High School Students." She attended the University of Texas on a dance scholarship. Her goal was to earn a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and to own her own dance studio. The memory of Rebecca's warm, happy and vivacious personality will always be with her parents, Michael and Bonni Chambers; and her maternal grandmother, Bobbie Pruett of Austin; her paternal grandparents, Pete and Barbara Chambers of Odessa; maternal great-grandmother, Bonnie Sargent of Ballinger; a paternal great-grandmother, Flois Walker of Odessa; several aunts; uncles; cousins; and many, many friends. Samuel Bass Sr. Samuel Bass 71, of Austin died Thursday, February 11, 1993. in Athens, Texas, died Thursday, February 11, 1993. She graduated from the University of Houston and received her master's degree from East Texas University. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 43 years, 30 of those in the Athens school system She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Joseph Carter Lamb. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly L.
