Murray fined Albert Thormer for tresspassing. He paid the costs and was last seen near the city limits on his way south. He was arrested by Santa Fe Officer Dixon. Eugene Thornhill, a member of Company New Mexico National Guard, Is wearing a bandage over his eye as the result of an accident that occurred in a game on Jhe insj day of the encampment when he was struck in the face by a swiftly pitched ball. Sam Langford, the Boston tar baby, is expected to pass through Las Vegas tonight on train No.

2 on his way from San Francisco to New York. Many of the Vegas fight fans are planning to meet the train in order that they may see the famous colored boxer." Word has been received from Salt Lake City to the effect that J. Min ium, an old time resident of Las Ve gas, died there last' Thursday. Mr. Minium was well known here hav ing lived in this city for many years.

He is survived by his wife and three sons, Charles and Arthur Minium of this city and Frank Minium of Col orado Springs. The funeral services of Miss Rafael- ita Duran, who died Saturday, were held this morning at 8 o'clock from the Church of the Immaculate Con ception. This was a double funeral service as Wilson Lucero the four months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fran cisco Lucero, died yesterday and services for him were held at the same time as those for Miss Duran.

MISS MURRAY PROMOTED Miss Cornelia Kimball Murray, formerly critic teacher of the fifth and sixth grades in the New Mexico Normal University, has been appointed director of art and music in that institution. Miss Murray is especially fitted for this line of work, as she has studied music under the best teachers in the Rocky mountain region. She has studied art in the best schools in the city of Berkely, Cal. Miss Sue A. Hutchison, a gradu ate of Columbia university, has been elected to succeed Miss Murray as critic teacher.

Miss Hutchison Is from Vandalia, having taught school there for a number of years. She fulfills all the conditions that are required by the normal univers ity. She is a normal graduate of several years teaching experience and has a college diploma. TO SUCCESSFUL FISH EVANGELIST RUNYAN PREACHES TO A LARGE AUDIENCE LAST EVENING Last night at the Duncan opera house Evangelist Runyan finished his labors in Las Vegas and said farewell to the people here with whom he has worked the past 15 days in the effort of religious Uplift The audience last evening filled the lower floor of the opera house. The stage was occupied by the chorus.

Selected voices, accompanied by piano and violin, rendered the De- koven-KiplIng "Recessional" and Mrs. O'Malley as an offertory played a violin solo. As compensation for his labors here Mr. Runyan asked only the money offerings of the last day's services. Rev.

Mr. Skinner presented the claim at both morning and evening servlceB and a quite generous response was tmade, for which Mr. Runyan expressed his thanks. Las Vegas has never been honored by entertaining a more courteous, kindly, gentlemanly person than the Rev. William R.

Runyan, or one whose sincerity of purpose and unselfishness of effort have been more assured. Those who have been the more closely associated with him here have' been most Impressed by his fine character and high ability. Mr. Runyan will return to his home at Baldwin, for a month of recuperation, after which he will resume elsewhere the campaign of evangelism. camp yesterday and the people were well pleased with the treatment they received. Seventeen besides the regular boarders at the camp were served dinner. Rogers allowed the girl to stay at her home until this morning, when she turned her visitor over to Town Mar shal Manuel Martinez. Marshal Martinez placed the girl in the charge of Santiago Wallace, her uncle. The girl's mother is dead, and it is said the father married again, leaving his daughter in the care of Mr. and Mrs. Lopez.

The Lopez family, it is understood, assert they have always treated the girl with kindness. SPECIAL MEETINGS Beginning tonight at 8 o'clock Rev. Frederick F. Grim of Albuquerque will lead in special meetings at the Christian church. Those who heard Mr.

Grim in the earty spring when here for a. few nights will want to hear him again. These meetings are for the purpose of deepening the spiritual life, developing the church in more efficient service that souls may be saved and the kingdom of God built up. Insanity among American troops serving in the Philippines is not prevalent, and a common belief to that effect Is disproved by figures collected by the sur-gen general of the army.
