(ABC) For this week, and the two Wednesday to follow, there is another of those summer junkpiles old, unsold pilot films. They're calling this one COMEDY PREVIEW and, tonight you'll see "Three For, Tahiti." This has Robert Hogan, Steve Frankcn and Bob Einstein as three California businessmen who open a hotel in Tahiti. This show came about when Ken Kragen, a sometime Smothers Brothers partner, and his bride, Jinx, honeymooned in Tahiti, and ran into these three men. So they figured this was a possible series and wrote it. It is, therefore, based on truth, and was shot last fall in Tahiti for ten glorious days.

Most of this was filmed on the small island of Moorea, but there are some scenes of Papeete, too. The scenery, anyhow, is great. It was there that he met George S. Patton Jr. and formed a close friendly relationship with him and his family. They both instructed together at Ft. Riley, and from there served together In the 1st infantry division at Ft.

Maddox then became CO. Gen. at Ft. Gordon, then Chief of Staff of the Third Army. Maddox was also Chief of Staff of the Continental Army Command, then was transferred to Korea.

In 1959 Maddox retired from the army while on active duty in Europe again. Maddox said of Patton "I knew him so well, personally, that it's hard to sum it up in a few words. "Among other things Gen. Patton was not only a fine, competent officer but he was a student; one of the best-read of military men. He wanted to prepare himself to command a field army." Maddox enjoyed the movie very much, he said.

He also said he saw a few misrepresentations and other fallacies, but overall the movie was, in his words, "a portrait of the man," not a war story, and that's what he enjoyed most. He said he had expected the movie to show more background to the various invasions, (ie. planning anc conferring with other commanders back in the war rooms) but realized that it would have teen difficult for Hollywood to do this.
