Maser, 67, of 5634 Kimball died Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Covenant Medical Center emergency room of natural caus es. He was born June 17, 1927, in Arlington, son of Lester and Lela M. Stowell Maser.

He married Dora Rhines on April 20, 1947, in Fayette. Mr. Maser worked as an automobile mechanic for 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survived by: his wife; three daughters, P.J. Trostel of a Bayneld, Carmen Sumpter of Exline and Michelle Moore of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; his mother of Oelwem; four sisters, Norma Kappmeyer of Oelwein, Leo Maser Dorothy Thein, Mary Fish and Darlene Puffett, all of Arlington; and a brother, Harold of Fayette. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Anna M. Kukes, 70, of 3149 Gilbertville Road, died today, Sept. 2, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes; services pending with Chapel of Memories-West Funeral Home, 233-8437. Billy R. Deeds, 67, of 2109 Regal natural causes.

He was bora Pec' 26, 1903, in Evans, son of Richard and Mary Masters McCombs. He married Dorothy Strait in 1954; she died in 1970. He then married Ethel Blum on Feb. 3, 1973, in Nashua. Mr.

McCombs fanned in North Dakota, then moved to Iowa and worked as a plumber and carpenter. He also worked at the Waterloo Register, retiring in 1971, then worked as a part-time manager at the Walnut Grove Trailer Court. Survived by: his wife; two stepsons, Roger Blum of Spokane, and Robert Blum of Cedar Falls; two stepdaughters, Ethel Abkes of Cedar Falls and Caroline OELWEIN Lyle R. Esch, 78, of Oelwein died Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, of natural causes; survivors include a daughter, Denise Casella of Waterloo; and a granddaughter, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Darwin, Rolland and Ronald; and a sister, Leona; services will be 11 a.m.

She was born Jan. 9, 1902, in Waterloo, daughter of Patrick and Catherine Blim Sheehan. She married Edgar Harris on May 29, 1923, in Waterloo; he died in 1974. Survived by: a son, Donald P. Harris of Waterloo; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren.

LA PORTE CITY Clifford Karr, 86, of 506 Sycamore died Thursday, Sept. 1, at Covenant Medical Center hospice unit, Waterloo, of cancer.

He was born April 25, 1908, in Vinton, son of Johannson W. and Julia A. Guilford Karr. He married Velva "Babe" Dixon Dooley on June 8,. 1962, in Payette, Idaho.

Mr. Karr was a retired truck driver Survived by: his wife; a stepson, James Dixon of Waterloo; and a sister, Jeannette Willson of Vinton. Preceded in death by: two brothers, William and Monroe; and a sister, Mabel Oyler. 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Wesleyan Church, with burial in West View Cemetery.

CEDAR FALLS Lester Hodge, 99, of 1303 Walnut formerly of Cedar Falls Police Log Daniel Franklin Frazier 19, of 332 Newell Waterloo, was arrested Thursday near Panther Lane and Starbeck Circle on a complaint of possession with intent to deliver marijuana.

Kimberly Ann Schumacker, 20, of 209 Alice Waterloo, was arrested today at the intersection of University Avenue and Midway Drive on a complaint of first-offense operating while intoxicated. Tobis Tom Torstenson, 19, of 204 College Apt. 3, was arrested today at 22nd and Campus streets on complaints of fourthfifth-degree criminal mischief. He is accused of kicking the left quarter panel of a 1 984 car belonging to Jeffrey Lan-duyt of Cedar Falls. 7 Wade William Sharp, 24, of 3206 Springvalley Lane, Apt.

D2, was arrested today at 2503 Iowa St. on complaints of disorderly conduct, interference with official acts and assault. He is accused of resisting arrest as well as assaulting the offi-; cer who was trying to take him into custody. He was born June 14, 1895, in Green Mountain, son of Calvin and Maggie Sweet Hodge. He married Martha Radke on Feb. 14, 1917, in St. Peter, Minn. Mr.

Hodge was a farmer. Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Mildred Davis of Cedar Falls and Marvel Beckwith of Oceanside, a son, Lloyd of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Daringer, 102, formerly of Dunkerton, died Thursday, Sept. 1, at Sunnycrest Care Center, Dysart, Three injured in two-car accident 1 ft. 'is was driving west on Ridgeway Avenue when she went over the median and collided with VanHci-den's car in the eastbound lane. She was hospitalized at Allen Memorial Hospital, but no condition was released. The accident is being investigated.

A husband and wife from Aplington were listed in serious condition this morning after a vehicle jumped a median and struck their car, police said. John VanHeiden, 70, and, Luella, 73, both of Aplington, had to be extricated from their vehicle after the 5:30 p.m. accident in the 2800 block of Ridgeway Avenue, reports state. He slowed to approximately 60 mph with several law enforcement vehicles following, and was finally stopped after the roadway was blocked, reports state. Once stopped, Deberg locked his vehicle and armed himself with a screwdriver, officials said. The window was then broken and Deberg had to be restrained, deputies said.

During the incident, Deputy Sgt. Jeff Vane received minor injuries to both arms. Deberg was treated and transferred to a psychiatric unit for evaluation, according to reports. A 50-year-old Cedar Falls man was arrested Thursday after a highspeed chase with Black Hawk County Sheriff's deputies. Authorities had to break the window of Dale Wayne Deberg's car after he locked himself inside when he was finally stopped on Highway 21 just south of Highway 20, reports state.

Deberg, of 3103 Hillcrest Drive, was arrested on complaints of interference with official acts, resisting arrest and assault. He also was cited for speeding, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and attempting to elude, an official said. Deputies said Deberg was bound in the 11000 block of La Porte Road when he was clocked on radar Independence man arrested for sexual assault INDEPENDENCE An Independence man was arrested Thursday in connection with the sexual assault of a teen-age girl. Allen Walker Spray, 18, is being held in the Buchanan County Jail today pending a court appearance on charges of third-degree sexual assault and aggravated assault, according to the Independence Police Department. Spray's arrest came almost two months after the teen reported she was assaulted at her residence between 3:45 and 5:15 a.m.
