Rumors, and a dec'ara'ion by the latter of their fears of an attack, had a short tune ago reached the Indian office, which induced the Secretary of War to order a company of dragoons lo Council Blufl's to protect the Indians in that vicinity. The communications now received give the matter a more determined aspect than it heretofore wore. The Ottawas, Chippewas, a nd Pota watamies have written a letter to the Del-awares, inviting them to unite in resisting the Sioux The they say, are preparing for a hostile irruption into the country of the united hand, and that they have sent runners among the Sioux village for reinforcements so as to be in strength sufficient to ensure success. The Ottawas, Chippewas, and Potawa-tamies inform the Delaware, that they have 1.30 men on the borders of their land, on the look out for the Sioux, and call for asssistance in the vigorous defence thev in tend to nake. Murder. Quick Retribution. An I-rish man named McCue, a few days ago attacked a son of Mr. John Pettes.in Windsor, Vt. and a small negro, and so injured the latter Ihat he died the other will recover.

In Senate to day, several private bills were considered and ordered to be engrossed, and one pasied. The bill from the House to extend to the 1st of August the existing revenue laws, Mr. Kvans moved to refer to the Committee on Finance. Sir. Buchanan expressed himself in favor of the reference and in opposition to the bill, were the proviso (relating to distribution) regained.

Mr King expressed his decided hostility to the bill, as involving a breach of the solemn obligation, made to the country in the passage of the Distribution that the Compromise Actihould not be interfered with.
