The vote stood Dorr 648, Griggs 384, Scattering 11, giving Mr. Dorr a clear majority ot 254. The American Celts, whose business it is to unearth "the dull, cold, marble," must some of them feared to lose the appellation of alien, as Mr. Dorr received but 178 majority last year. Accident.

A thing unknown for nany years in Burlington. Thk New Cathedral A Good Example. The work on the new Cathedral is progressing satisfactorily, though 6lowly, under the management of Messrs. Maginn and Bolger, who have the contract of the mason and carpenter work of the edifice.

There lie now at the east side of the building a number -of pieces of marble, very nicely worked, of which the public1 may like to know the destination. They are sections of eleven columns1 19 feet 3 in- ches in height, which are to be raised inside the outer and on which Is to be built the clerestory. This clerestory will rise 18 feet higher than the walls already built. The columns will divide the edifice into three aisles, being each lil'teen feet, and the main aisle some thirty leet in width, The side aisle will be 29 feet and the center aisle 54 feet high, from floor to ceiling. Owing to the projection of-the tower therewiir.beonly five columns on the east side, while wilL be six of them on the west side.

The twelve large sec-tions on the ground will foim the transept columns. Tho marble jytich is of a very good quality, comes fr.om Uje quarries of Das' sey Sheldon, West Rutland, who, by giving it at reduced Contributed $230 toward' the, caluuiDa. columns; cost $200 apiece, and are offered by priests, of the Diocese of BurliDgton. They were brought over the Railroad from West Rutland 'fWe of charge, and were" cut: at the sbo Jpr J.E. Manley.
