Oar Vermont Visitors. Tho party of prominent citizens of Burlington, who are at present visiting our city, have had a varied experience since loaving home a week ajo to-day. Thsy arrived at tho Fabyan House, Tuesday, and took dinner. They then pushed on to the Crawford House, expecting the train from Portland to meet them there. There were twenty-eight gentlemen in the party when it started, but four wero obliged to return on account of urgent business.

At the Crawford House it was found impossible to entertain them. Accordingly teams were procured aud the party taken back to Fabynu's, tho teams being obligod to raako several trips. The night was clear, and the trees encrusted with snow. The rr.ys ft. a tho lanterns lighted up tho surrounding scenery, and the effect was described as splendid.

The party was exceedingly good natured, and they made tho best of their involuntary detention at Fabjau'j. Wednesday they again went to Crawford, and towards night ft train was mado up, the eDgine pushing the cars. the party started, in a blinding snow etorm. Tho train had hardly got through the gate of the Notch when tho engine left tho rails. A consultation was held and it waa decided that it would l9 unsafe to attempt to proceod, even if the eDgiuo should be put upon the track.

So it was decided to return to Crawford, and the much dotaind merchants, nothing daunted, jumped out into the snow. They were about quarter of mile from the hotel. They ilrst tried to wallc back aloug side tho track, but the snow plow had thrown tho euow into huge and occasionally ono of the psrty would ciuk away out of eight.only to be pulled out by his moro fortunate cumi'ar'ioLG. They were alno encumbered with their baggage. After many trials and miu! tribulation they reached tho Crawford, tv'iro they remained until Friday, the road haviog been clear 1 a train and tho party reached tho Falmouth about half-past eleven Friday night, r.

in the least discourage! by their mishap. Thev bad started out to corn -3 to Portland, proposed ti roach hro if it took all winter. Tho party i composed of representative business mou of Burlington, and their visit hero can but assist in extending tho trade of the city in that direction. Among the party aro Mayor C. U.

Thev were impressed with our superior har bor facilities, but were inclined to think a summer trip would be rather more pleasant, although they appeared to enjoy this one. in the afternoon they wero takon in carriages and shown the principal objects of interest in the city. In tho evening the guests wero waited upon nt the Falmouth by a large number of cur moro prominent citizens, and a very enjoyable and profitable evening was passed.
