THE DAILY TIMES," THURSDAY MORNING, AUGUST 21, 1862. grs Goals. urtitt(rtro attu tows. THURSDAY MORNING, AUG. 21, 1862.

Bravely Doxe. A large and enthusiastic war meeting was held in Richmond, Wednesday afternoon. Speeches were made by Rev. Messrs. Fuller, Sargent and Cutting, and Dr.

Sprague. A bounty of $100 to each volunteer for nine months was voted to be paid by subscription apportioned on the grand list. The list was called, and all who were present voted yes. Twelve young men enlisted at the close of the meeting. These men intend to go into the cavalry, if they will be accepted as they will, we guess.

Richmond has done nobly every time a call has been made on her. She had furnished sixteen men more than her quota when the last call was made to say nothing of several men who have gone into XTXST BECEIVED. A BOUNTY will be given by the Citizens of Burlington, to all the residents of the Town of Burlington, who volunteer to fill up the Old Regiments now in the field, namely To a man with more than two children, under 16 years of age $175 To a man with one or two children, under 16 years of age, 100 To all others, 75 In this hour of our country's danger let all, who can, volunteer. The Recruiting Office, in the Town Hall, will be open daily until 9 o'clock, P. for the purpose of receiving Recruits. The above Bounty will be paid at the time of Enlistment. RUSSELL S.

TAFT, WM. G. SHAW, Selectmen. P. H.

CATLIN. Last Call. The Howard Guards have already recruited nearly sixty men. They are besieged with applications from some of the finest young men of the neighboring towns to join their company but they have decided to keep their ranks open for citizens of this town alone until this evening after which, if their ranks are not filled from Burlington, the Company will receive members from elsewhere. Young men of Burlington to-day is your last chance to enter this excellent Company.

War Meeting. In the absence of S. Adams, Chairman of the War Committee of Twenty, the meeting held last evening in the Town Hall was call ed to order by Henry Loomis, one of the Committee. Hon. George F.

Edmunds was called to the chair, and Wm. H. Hoyt, was elected Secretary. Wm. G.

Shaw, of the Committee, introduced the following Resolutions, making at the same time a few brief patriotic and pertinent remarks relative to the number of of men required of Burlington, and the number already furnished by her. Resolved, That we the citizens of Burlington, In public meeting assembled, are fully alive to the present emergency in the affairs of the nation, and will, to our utmost ability contribute both men and money for the salvation of our government, to which noble purpose we, as did our fathers of old, do pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor. Resolved, That understanding that, after making due allowance for the proportion of troops already furnished by the town of Burlington, in response to the various calls for three years volunteers, made by the President, this town is still in want of about fifty volunteers to make up its fair quota of such troops, we will use every effort in our power to furnish that number of volunteers to enter the Vermont Regiments now in the field. Resolved, That for the purpose of raising such volunteers we do hereby offer the following bounties, to be paid upon the acceptance of each volunteer by the Selectmen after a careful medical inspection, viz to each married man, or widower, with more than two children under sixteen years of age, $125 to each married man or widower with one or two children under said age, $100; and to all other volunteers $76. Resolved, Thai for the purpose of raising the means to pay such bounties, we do hereby assess upon the grand list of this town for 1862, exclusive of polls, the sum of forty cents on the dollar, to be paid on demand, to the committee of assessment hereinafter named; and also that the sum of $2,000 in addition be equitably assessed upon all persons liable to be drafted, in proportion to their pecuniary ability, and the advantage they will respectively derive by avoiding a draft said sum of $2,000 to be paid as aforesaid.

Resolved, That Henry Loomis, Levcrett B. Englesby, John Van Sicklen, Mark B. Cathn, Henry Rolfe, and Ca-rolus Noyes, be appointed a committee to make and collect the assessments above provided for, and to pay out the same to such volunteers as shall be duly accept-by the (Selectmen. Resolved, That all such sums collected upon said assessments, as may not be expended for the bounties above mentioned, and the expenses necessarily attendant upon the business herein provided for, shall be ratably refunded to the several persons paying the same. Resolved, That all of us who are here present, pledge ourselves to pay our several assessments made in conformity to these resolutions and we do urge upon all who are not present to do likewise, as well for the honor of Burlington, as the preservation of our government.

Resolved, That we regard with the highest pride oar noble citizens who have so promptly and patriotically volunteered in response to the President's call for nine months militia men; that we shall ever cherish them in our hearts, and that, as they go forth to risk their lives for their country's honor, and salvation, our sympathies and prayers will accompany them and that in their absence upon the field of glory, we will tenderly care for their dear ones they leave behind, andcontrib- ue an weir necessities. After a brief discussion participated in by Messrs. G. W. Benedict, Underwood, Roberts, Noyes, Englesby, Styles and the Chairman, the Resolutions were unanimously passed.

E. W. Peck, then offered a bounty of fifty dollars additional to the first recruit enlisting during the meeting, and Hon. John Van Sicklin offered in addition the sum of twenty-five dollars, when Russell C. Munson, a young and patriotic wheelwright, stepped forward and declared he was the man.

Underwood then offered fifty dollars to the second recruit, accepted by Silas C. Isham. D. C. Linsley, making a similar offer for the third, and Mr.

Edmunds for tha foutb, brought forward Mr. John Wright and Mr. Samuel Somerville. Lawrence Barnes and Wm. G.

Shaw, Esqs, then made similar propositions for the fifth and sixth, but no one came forward to accept them. The meeting then adjourned in the best feeling. 7 i The Town Hall was densely crowded, and a fixed determination was visible on the countenances of all present to do everything possible to aid the government in the present contest with the rebels. Quota Completed. The following towns in Chittenden County have completed their quota of three years men Hinesburgh, Milton, Richmond, St.

B. B. Newton, of St.

Rapid Recruiting in New Orleans. An instance of rapid recruiting is furnished us by a member of the 8th Vt. Regiment now in Louisiana.
