Colter and Maxie Prevoux at the police court yesterday afternoon was an unusually lively one. The charges brought against them was for fighting on First street and disturbing tbe peace and quiet ofjthejvicinity. From witnesses ftnd the defendants themselves, it see med to be a mixed up affair. Each witness gave testimony in the case that was at- rectly in opposition to that given by his predecessor. It appears that Colter had taken a woman of questionable character out driving yesterday afternoon and, after driving around for some little time and stopping at several saloons tor retresu-ment, finally concluded to return to the residence ot the woman in question.

The bouse is in tne neighborhood of vbe--valieux's saloon, which gentleman is the owner of the properly. About this time Officers Waters and McCaffrey appeared and ar rested the men. 1 hey obtained nan ana were subsequently released. Alter a rather lengthy and interesting trial Pre voux was discharged and Colter was fined flu and costs. John Leyden'a Trials, John Leyden, who was arrested on Thursday for striking Eric Pearson and John Eitenblcch in a saloon on First street, and who on being brought before Judge Rockwell became abusive and was ordered to be locked up until such time as he became sober and knew how to conduct himself, was yesterday brought ap before the same court on the complaint made against him and was taxed $10 and costs. In default of the payment or this amount was committed.

"Little Lord Faantleroy." Mrs. A. R. B. Jennings will certainly be a great attraction at this afternoon's per formance of "Little Lord Fauntleroy." The Papers Have Been Drawn and the surveying Will be Act- ively Prosecuted The Route 'Described. Before enow flies next autumn there will be more than one line of railroad connecting the cities of Butte and Anaconda, and the day 8 of the Montana Union's arrogant 1 supremacy will be ended. The building of the new line is assured. The incorporation papers have been -sent for record, the" preliminaries hieb have-een under discussion for several weeks have been comDleted, the new railroad-company is jady foriust ness and a corps of engineers will take the-fleld this morning. The iiew will be known as the Butte, Anaconda Pacific railroad.7 Its line from Butte to this city is already-pretty well defined.

It Warm Spring canyon, over the -range to the Bitter Root at a point about 40 miles south of Missoula and thence to the city of Missoula. From examinations which have already been made the builders of the road have a pretty accurate idea of the route whicb the new road will follow when it leaves this city on the way up the canyon. There will be no delay in construction work, as soon as the engineers say what is wanted the builders will go ahead.) A Standard reporter talked last even- isoneof the incorporators of the new road. "There isn't much to say about the matter," said Mr. Hoge, "except that the road will be built and that we are all ready to go ahead with it The plans have not been made in a hurry the fact is, they have been under 'discussion a good while.

There isn't a doubt in the world that Anaconda will always be in peril as long as it is at the mercy of a railroad which is, you might say, under foreign management, and the way to get relief is to build a road. We are satisfied to undertake it on the amount of business which we can secure the minute the roadbed is in shape for rolling stock." "Is the Anaconda company building the new road?" asked the reporter. "Nobody connected with the Anaconda company figures among the incorporators of the new company," replied Mr. Hoge. "It will be built, owned and managed by people who belong right here and who will take personal interest in its success.

All I can say to you is that the road is going to be built." Mr. Hoge favored the refteFwitB ithecorpdratiottpaperaif the following is a copy We, the" undersigned, WlUlam L. Hoge, Stephen A. Estes. Shellev Tuttle, William Thornton and ml son B.

The Authorities Think the City Alon Without Uim. Can Get "Billy" Butts, the fake prise-fighter who laid down before Mr. Strader in a lit tle imitation scrap at the Anaconda park pavilion some weeks ago, and who recently got into a fight over an ancient fairy whose place of residence is on the row, with a man who gave him decidedly the worst of it by almost biting one of his bands off, has had more hard lock and was again taken into the police court yes terday on a charge -of frequenting houses of ill fame. The only thing he has been doing since his irom the last on whicb be was fined $25 and costs, has been to act in the capacity of private secretary to the affectionate wo man who was so kind as to pay his recent fine and get him out of hock. Butts is a gambler and an all-around sport but the beat he has been trotting was brought to a sudden halt yesterday.

He was brought before Judge Rockwell arid fined 1 25 and costs. and told that as his presence was not particularly necessary to the welfare of the city that if. he would leave the town in 10 hours the fine would be remitted. The time given bim was extended somewhat by the judge, owing to the fact that Butts stated thai bis' pedal extremities were very sore on account of the amount of hustling he had; done in an effort to secure a permanent situation. It is likely that he left town on the evening train, lor he could not be found at any of his usual Daunts later in tne evening.
