Police later arrested his companions, Horace A. Carlson, 22. of 2142 Highland avenue, Berwyn, and Rudolph Slouka, 24, 1439 Wenonah avenue, Berwyn. It was charged that Carlson, the driver, had tried to remove the license plates from the car after the accident. An unloaded gun was found bat the automobile.

Three persons were injured last night in a collision of two cars at Norwood street and 25th avenue, Melrose Park. One of those injured, Ole Canestrine, 43 years old, 1540 North 14th street, Melrose Park, was taken to the Westlake hospital, in a critical condition. The death of Murphy Increased the county motor toll for the year to 517. Frank Heiden, 50 years old, of Chesterton, an Indiana state highway policeman, was fatally injured yesterday when he was crushed between two trucks in Dunes highway, east of Gary. Three cab drivers arrested in connection with the death of Walter Anderson, 24 years old, 9431 South Racine avenue, were released yesterday after an inquest was continued to June 21.

The police will investigate reports that the victim was involved in a fight with several men after he was struck by an automobile. The drivers were Edward Dodge of 947 West 51st street, Edward Lake of 6317 Drexel avenue, and John Antonucci of 6745 South Lincoln street. M. B. Henry Horner was unveiled yesterday in the Probate court, where the governor served as judge for eighteen years. SAN SALVADOR, Salvador, June 8 By Pan-American Airways Wireless-3(A3)A hurricane which struck Salvador at 1 p. m. yesterday and continued throughout the night killed at least eight persons, destroyed the homes of COO, caused property damage estimated at $2,000.000, and cut off the communications systems of the nation. Heavy rain continued throughout the day, but was abating tonight as efforts were made to care for the homeless in a city which was without electric light or power. City Under Martial Law.

Soldiers were in charge in San Sal. vador under martial law and enforced an early curfew to prevent looting and disorders. The homeless were being cared for In churches and other public buildings. Only meager reports of damage In the interior were available because practically every telephone and telegraph line in the country was out of commission. TENNISON'S WIFE DIES AT 62 NATIVE OF CITY Mrs. Nora Tennison, wife of Harry n. Tennison, assistant superintendent of the city sewer department for the last thirty-five years, died yesterday in her home at 7042 South Carpenter street, after a lingering illness. She was 62 years old and was born in Chicago. Funeral services will be held Monday, with a requiem high mass at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church, 70th and May streets.

Battalion Chief Cotohey's Wile Dies in Family Home Mrs. Rose Cowhey, wife of James Cowhey, chief of the 4th battalion of the fire department. died early yesterday in the family home at 5643 Wilson avenue. Frank J. Corr, who died the day before the election, was the nominee, according to the vote proclamation issued yesterday by the board. Attorney Cornelius J. Harrington the Democratic organization choice for the vacancy following Corr's death, received the largest number ot votes cast for any write in candi date. Ills vote was 56,232.

Corr received 23.911 votes, but this vote was not certified to the county clerk, the election board ruling he was not a person on June 4, election day. Neither were the one or two votes east for Dr. Alice L. Wynekoop, Al Capone, and his brother. Ralph Capone, certified, the board ruling that these had been improperly marked.

Corrizan Gets Votes. But among the votes proclaimed were several for Ben Gump, who was not identified as a relative of Andy; Michael Corrigan, chief fire marshal; George E. Q. Johnson. former United States district attorney; Danny Dever, son of the late Mayor Dever; several former and sitting aldermen, and most of the judges on the Municipal court bench.

Altogether 112,798 votes were cast in the election board territory, which was approximately 7 per cent of the registered voters. The largest number of votes went to Judge John J. Sullivan, candidate for reelection to the Superior court bench, whose name was first on the ballot. His vote was 103,329. The exceedingly light vote was due to the fact that none of the candidates were opposed, all running on the coalition ticket.

Canvass County Today. Daniel A. Carey, who is in charge of the county election departments said the vote in the county outside the Chicago board territory would be canvassed today or Monday. These votes will be added to those of the election board and the total vote will be certified to the secretary of state, who will issue the certificates to those elected to the state judgeships. The two candidates for the Municipal court will receive their certificates from the election board.

Noted Fairfield Democrat, James M. Laster, Is Dead Fairfield. June M. Laster, 83, retired farmer and prominent Democratic politician, died at his home here today. Funeral services will be held Sunday.

Beecher's band will be heard nightly over THE T.R.I3UNE station from this spot, which is more than 400 feet above street level. Two Well known radio orchestras will come back to the local 'airlanes tonight. Harry Sosnik, who has been on tour, will return to the Edgewater Beach opening of the outdoor beach-walk with his music picked up by WBBM-CBS.

Buddy Rogers' orchestra will open a summer's engagement this evening at the College Inn vtrith various NBC stations carrying his programs. Ed and Ralph are among radio's most competent mimics. So Ed played both his own part and that of Ralph. The Warnpas Stars, engaged to appear at the Chicago theater June 22. are likely to appear on the W-G-N show broadcast from the stage of the theater. That year he purchased two morning newspapers, the Record-Herald and inter Ocean, and consolidated them into the Chicago Herald. Four years later he left the Chicago newspaper field. He had been connected with the Pullman company since 1922.
