Robert Orff of EVENTS OF THE FUTURE DA TES TO BE REMEMBERED OUR GUESTS. "Farewell farewell ia a doleful sound" but never doleful when the partings; are short and the goodby 1b the beginning of a vacation or a respite from- -work. While an expert worker in any craft must- keep the harness on to maintain capacity, as the athlete keeps up his exercises still a Jlt-tie turning one's back on familiar scene s-4et ting go for a few' days of the thing one must grip, for fear life most of the time, is good for the soul, the spirit and the body. -Just now the summer tourists are getting off on their summer trips abroad the number of foreign-bound Buffalonlans being rather larger than usual. Others are gone or going to the New England and Newfoundland coasts and more are settling down In homes the sea, the lake and the river.

Our own lake shore border is like a garden of Paradise trees, shrubs, vines, flowers and fruits rendering it a vision of beauty and most of the houses are picturesque and painted to fit into the landscape. Down the river at Lewiston, Youngs-town and Queenstown, are more lovely Buffalo summer homes and Ogden P. Letchworth's, Laurence 'D. Rumsey's, Mr. Henry Cogswell's lovely home at Youngatown, the Larkins beautiful 'Glen -Gairn" and a score of other notable places make a little colony or string of colonies in the most historic and lovely spot in Western New York.

Our people go as far up the lake as Dunkirk and Angola, and Hamburg and East Aurora are simply residence suburbs of our city, and now that Hamburg is to have its brick-paved -rWad into Buffalo, it may be called part and parcel of the city. The weddings continue, also social amenities but aside from their celebrations there are no set functions everything most easy-going and informal. For this week next to nothing Is planned and the week after our patriotic celebration will furnish excitement and bustle enough to reduce to quiet accompanying days.
