Maroons choose to take the penalty rather than the 24-yard pass gain, thus getting another play. Harrington passed again to Delaney but the throw was abort and the half ended, Butte 7, Central 0. Butte went 79 yards on nine plays for its second touchdown, scored after eight minutes and 29 seconds of play In the third quarter. Janhunen kicked off 51. Albright sidestepped his way for a 29-yard return to the Central 38.

The Maroons moved to a first down on the 50 before the Bulldogs tightened up. Albright punted 31 to Given, who returned six to Butte's 21. Olds then tossed a pass to Bob Crippen for a gain of four. Clabattari picked up five more on an off-tackle play and then Laird swung into the clear for the 21-yard scoreboard 'spinner. Dan Janhunen place kicked the added point. 7-0 at Half Central received. Dan Ferrlter, Garry Monahan and John Cuneen alternated In pigskin toting for a first down on the Central 46.

Bull' dogs held and Albright punted 33 to Paffhausen, who returned to the Butte 21. Laird, behind crisp, sharp blocking, ran left end for 14 and a first down on the Butte 28. The Bulldogs picked up another first down on the 38 before Central defense tight' ened. As the quarter ended it was fourth down and five to go for the Purples on their own 42. Score: Butte 7, Central 0.

Famble Spoils Marooa Chance Mel Johnston punted 23 to Rob bie Harrington, Central signal caller the second quarter opened. Central's ground attack was stopped and Albright punted 28 to Paffhausen who returned, three to me Binie Laird was stopped, then picked dp 10 but Butte was penalized 9, nullifying the gain. Harry Manx, 190-pound Butte tackle recovered the ball on the Bulldog 13. Maroons held and Johnston minted 48 to Monahan who returned to Central's 44.
