Zimmerman, 57, of Pine Grove, was killed last night in a fall down a chute at the Penag One of the worst disasters that has ever occurred in this area took place on Tuesday morning' when a propane gas tank, mounted on a truck, caught fire following a rear end collision and exploded while firemen were trying to extinguish the flames, bringing instant death to ten men and injuring 11 others. The tragedy occurred on Route 122, at the intersection of the old Orwigsburg road with the highway leading from Schuylkill Haven to Deer Lake, just in front of the Red Church. Victims of the accident were spectators who stopped to some of the firemen who came Guntcr Air Force Base, Ala.

Precise's resignation was presented and accepted and Hoff was elected at Council's monthly meeting on Monday evening. No newcomer to borough affairs, Mr. Hoff previously served on the Council for a number A second vaoancy occurred this week when Borough Secretary John F.

Hamer died on Tuesday evening. This vacancy will be filled in the near future. Persons interested in this position are to file their applications with the Borough Council by June 20. It is believed that the fatal accident occurred at 10:30 last night when Zimmerman was to have gone down the shaft to operate the water pumps. At 6:30 tohis morning, when workmen rang the bell for the cart to be sent up the chute, there was no response and the cart failed to ascend to the top. Kozier Miller went down the shaift and found Zimmerman's badly mangled body at tihe bottom.
