or and Irritation of making 48 See and NORTH ARKANSAS STAR, BERRYVILLE, ARKANSAS, THURSDAY, JANUARY 30, 1930. W. GOFORTH PASSES. AWAY. Prominent Farmer and Stockman Succumbs to Pneumonia.

W. F. Goforth, aged 79 years, widely known and highly respected citizen of Carroll county passed away at his home three miles north of Berryville, Thursday, January 23, after an illness of but a few days. Mr. Goforth had been in poor health for several months and went to Joplin, Missouri, about three weeks ago where received treatment for a cancerous growth on his face, contracting a severe cold, and later developed pneumoney which resulted in nis death.

Mr. Goforth was a native of Carroll county and his life was substanially interwoven in the upbuilding of his own and the surrounding communities in which he lived. He had een one of the directors of the First National 1 Bank of Berryville for bout twenty-five consecutive years; he had forged his way to the front as a farmer and stockman from sheer hard work and his honesty and good humor always won respect for him from all who knew him. William Francis Goforth was born in Carroll county, March 3, 1850, was married to Miss Lucy Carr September 20, 1868, who preceded him in death five years. Of the eleven children born to this union, three died in infancy.

Three sons and five daughters survive, they are: Mrs. A. L. Plumlee, Gravette, Arkansas; Mrs. Frank Plumlee, Tuttle, Oklahoma; Charlie, Calvin and Riley Goforth, Mrs.

Ellis Gardenhire, Mrs. Perry Gardenhire and Mrs. Fenton Denney, all of the vicinity of Berryville. His death marks the passing of an entire generation; only two halfbrothers remaining of a later marriage of his father, William Goforth. Funeral services were held at the family home, Saturday afternoon, Rev.

W. A. Bailey of Berryville, officiating. The pallbearers were D. J.

West, C. W. Davis, Ellis Bradley, Jimmie Standlee, C. T. Denney and D.

Y. Rowlett. The floral offerings from three communities expressed in a measure the high esteem in which he was held by his fellowman. Having. resided on the same farm 46 years he will be sadly missed by neighbors and friends who had learned to depend upon his wise council in many ways.

Despite the severe weather a long procession of sorrowing relatives and friends followed the hearse which bore his remains to the Black Jack cemetery where they were laid to rest beside his wife. ARE BONDED FOR YOUR PROTECTION We're Our Own Salesmen Service That Satisfies Investigate Before You Invest HERE is a good thing to bear in mind: When an investment proposition offers big returns with very little chance of loss, it is not necessary to send salesmen around the country letting the public in. The next time a stranger comes to you with a "sure shot" business opportunity, ask yourself if he isn't going to a good deal of trouble in order to let you make some money. Ask yourself why he didn't let a few big financiers handle it. If a thing is safe for you, it would have been safe for them.
