He came to the "Desert Navy" at White Sands last. January after a tour aboard the USS De Haven. Loerzel has been awarded five U.S. Navy and Vietnamese medals for service in the Vietnam area. At White Sands he is a volunteer worker with youth groups and' participates in horseback riding, camping, swimming and tennis.
