Thursday, June 17, 1971-Us Oucca 3 iiFirs Pvt. Laurence V. Marks Cruces Serviceman Is Soldier Of Month A i a engineering assistant assigned to the U.S. Army Safeguard System a a i Agency (SAFSEA) has been named Soldier of the Month for May at White Sands Missile Range. Pvt.

Laurence V. Marks, 25, of 1457 S. Espina, Las Cruces, won the coveted honor in competition with soldiers from all military units stationed at the national range. He was selected for his outstanding duty performance, leadership potential, conduct and knowledge of military history and current events. As the missile range's top soldier' of the month, Pvt.

Marks will receive a $25 Savings Bond, three-day pass and have his name painted on signs near the main entrance to the range. In addition he will be honored by Las Cruces and El Paso of Commerce Pvt. Marks, who holds a BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois, entered the Army Jan. 22, 1971, and completed basic combat training at Ft. Lewis, Wash.
