The school garden movement In Washington, which started humbly a few years ago, has so strongly appealed to the children and their parents that with a comparatively little assistance from the public funds It has thrived iima'Ingly. Already a marked change is observable not only In tho Immediate surroundings of the school buildings themselves, but In all parts of the town at the homes of the little ones. They have been taught plant love In terms which have in many eases never been presented to them be- fore, lty their personal participation In the work of making gardens, In preparing the ground, selecting aud planting the seeds, curing for the sprouts and the plants and finally plucking the blooms of their own cultivation they have gained a sense of responsibility which makes for the Improvement of the whole town. Speak Well of Your Town. Strangers seeking a locution are always greatly luilnencetl In favor of nay place where the citizens are en-thushistic'iii its praise.

When away from home, do nut neglect to give those with wb ini yon came lit cantact to un derstand that you live In live town, populated by enterprising, gj ahead, progressive people, and one that is ad-i vanelng iusteiid of retrograding. If you can truthfully speak lu commen dation of the ability of your professional men, the square dealing methods of your merchants, the superiority of your schools, let nothing prevent you from exercising thnt privilege. A Verbal Difference. The difference between having a tooth drawn by a professional tuau and having It knocked out by full cm tlie pavement Is only a verbal one.
