Tom was passionate about his Greek heritage and his family's long history in Chicago. His father came to America in 1909 from Greece and founded the Gallanis Brothers Temptation Chocolate Company. At the age of forty, after building his six- story office building and factory in Chicago on Halsted Street, he married Georgette Rallis, whose father was the Greek Ambassador to the United States of America and her nephew was the Premier of Greece. Tom was extremely proud of his large family: seven children, John Peter, Michael, John Jane, Gregg, and Cindy; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Katie, Paul, Anthony, Thomas, Katrina, Desiree', Alana and Alicia; four great grandchildren, Kaden, Cameron, Brooklynn and Riley; as well as his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other loving friends.

He loved tending his garden, extensive landscape projects, golfing, fishing and woodworking. His woodworking produced several pieces of furniture that his family and friends hold dear. Ted also had a special place in his heart for the family's dogs. The latest, Louie, was his final and biggest challenge. Ted was one of the "good a man of his word and will be missed.
