New H-Page Curse Of Plugola Hits The Video NEW YORK (UPI)-Barbra Streisand's special on ABC last Sunday, which looked more like a CO-minute plug for her new movie, "Funny Lady," raises some serious questions about the use of a TV program as a LC Building Permits Given For February New commercial construction totaling $40,000 and 16 new residential starts valued at $353,260 were included in the February tally of building permits issued by the City of Las Cruces. Opening lead three of hearts. Part-score hands may lack the dramatic appeal of game or slam hands, but they can be highly instructive nevertheless. Consider this deal where East wins the heart lead with the king and continues with the ace, West discarding a club. What should East play next' It may seem automatic for East to return a heart and let his partner ruff, but if he does this, South makes the contract because his only remaining losers are a spade and a club. The heart return at trick three is not quite as automatic as it seems.

As a matter of fact, it's the wrong play. East should anticipate that a heart return is likely to hand South the contract. He knows that his side needs six tricks, and can see that an immediate heart ruff will lead to only five. He should therefore give thought to other possible means of acquiring a setting trick and the solution lies in arranging for a club ruff. After cashing the A-K of hearts, East should play the A-8 of clubs.

Declarer cannot combat this attack from a new quarter. As soon as he plays a trump, East takes the ace and gives partner a heart ruff. West returns the compliment by giving East a club ruff. It is the last nail in the coffin, and South goes down one. It is of course tempting for East to lead a heart at trick three, but when the matter is examined in the cold light of day it becomes obvious that a prompt heart return is not urgent.

East is looking at the ace of spades and knows that West's trumps cannot be drawn before the ace of trumps is dislodged. The heart ruff can therefore wait until East has prepared the ground for a club ruff later on. Introducing the alternative to conventional small cars. New AMC Pacer: the first wide small car.
