MATTHEW D. MANN DIES AT AGE OF 76 Noted Physician, Writer and Gyne- cology Authority Passes Away. Dr. Matthew D. Mann, 76 years old, 37 Allen street, widely known as writer and authority on gynecology, is dead.

The funeral will be held from the Allen street residence tomorrow afternoon. Dr. Mann was the operating surgeon after, President McKinley was shot at the Pan exposition in Buffalo. It was agreed by the physicians in consultation that the only hope lay in an operation. Dr.

Mann; because of his skill, was selected and did the surgical work. The operation was successful, but complications from another source later developed and caused the president's death. For many years Dr. Mann was dean of the faculty of the University of Buffalo. Born in Utica, July 12, 1845, Dr.

Mann received his early education there, later entering Yale university. He was graduated in 1867. Still later le entered the college of physicians and surgeons of Columbia university, receiving his' degree in 1871. Dr. Mann also studied in Europe and practiced in New York and Hartford, from 1873 to 1880, when he became clinical lecturer at Yale.

He came to Buffalo in 1882 as professor of obstetrics and gynecology of the University of Buffalo. He held that chair until 1910, when he was. retired. From 1894 up to a few months ago, Dr. Mann had been the consulting gynecologist at the Buffalo General hospital.

Dr. Mann was known throughout the United States as a gynecologist. In 1894 he was. elected president of American Gynecology society. In 1879 he gained prominence as a writer by publishing the "Manual of Prescription Writing." He was a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal church: He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs.

201 Crowley. ACTRESS TELLS SECRET Tells How to Darken Gray Hair With Home- Mixture. Williams, the well-known American actress, recently made the following statement about gray hair and how to darken it, with a homemade mixture: "Anyone can prepare a simple mixture at home that will gradually darken gray, streaked or faded hair, and makes it soft and glossy. To a half-pint of water add 1 ounce of bay rum, a small box of Barbo Compound, and ounce of glycerine. These ingredients can be bought at any drug store at very little cost.

Apply to the hair twice a week until the desired shade is obtained. This will make a gray-haired person look twenty years younger. It does not color the scalp, is not sticky or greasy and does not rub off." Quality Goes Clear Through The new family of Dort Cars is the outstanding feature of the show.
