SSSfl ESCAMBIA COUNTY ABSTRACT CO. W. H. KNOWLES, Pres. C.

S. WRIGHT, Manager. Life insurance is good! Fire insurance is a wise precaution! But an ABSTRACT OF TITLE is absolutely necessary when you buy property or loan money on real estate security. It would astonish the public to know the large per centage of real estate in Pensacola, the title of which has serious defects. To buy property or loan money without an abstract of title to the property is inviting trouble.

The cost of an abstract is but a trifle compared to the principal involved in a real estate transaction. Our abstract books show every document pertaining to each and every piece of real estate in Escambia county that has been filed in the records since Florida has been a part of the United States. BOUT RAGES Hundreds of persons who gathered on the varkvrs city wharves were disappointed vesterday afternoon, when it was announced that the race be-twen the launches Gem and Ora could not be pulled ofT, owing to the fact that no gasoline could be secured for the Gem until late in the afternoon, and then the wind had increased to- such a velocity that the bay had become very rough. To attempt to drive the boats at high speed with the waves Tunning hitrh would have been folly and very dangerous. It was announced last night that no attempt would made to have the race during July or until the latter portion of August, when the winds wiil be from a different direction and will afford better weather for racing. Manager. LEE IS FOUND Great Mystery Surrounds a Ghastly Find Made Yesterday Morning. The leg of a white man, which had evidently been In the water two or three months, was found on the beach opposite Parkhill station, yesterday morning. It is probable that the portion of the body of some person who had been drowned, had just been washed upon the beach, as it had the appearance of being out of the water only a short time. The leg had become unjointed at the hip, and much of the flesh had been eaten away by crabs.

On the foot was a sock, which appeared to be of fine quality, and an exceptionally fine make ol shoe, showing that the person who lost his life was well dressed. The find was made by some workmen, and they immediately reported the matter to the coroner, who ordered the leg buried in the potter's field, and this was done in the afternoon. There is great mystery regarding the man who lost his life, as no white man has been drowned in fte harbor recently. A uoy was drowned about three months since in the harbor, but the shoe is that of a man. and it is hardly probable that the find yesterday was a portion of the body of the boy.

Some believe that the portion of body found Is that of some unfortunate who lost his life in the hurricane of last September. Engaged Couole Drowned. lima, July 19. Boating on Mc-Ullogh's lake last night, J. L.

Davis, a well-known young man, and Miss Docia Vebryke were drowned by the capsizing of their boat. The bodies were caught in the lake under weeds and the fire department worked all night dragging the lake, recovering the bodies at daylight. The two are said to have been engaged.
