Ira Blxby, a prominent citizen of Sharon Center, IS miles southeast of here, was burled yesterday. While the funeral party was accompanying the body to the cemetery, the hearse doors flew open suddenly and the casket shot out, one end striking the ground. Exerting all of his strength, he steadied the head of the casket to the ground, still keeping the foot of the coffin In the hearse. The casket was not damaged and In a few minutes the body was again in position In the casket, and the burial rites were spoken. The accident was caused through failure to set the steel safety bar in place just inside the rear doors of the hearse.

MRS. LONGSTREET ROUTS BURGLAR IN HER HOME Widow of Con'ederate General Fire Five Shots at Intruder Who Decamps. GAINESVILLE, May 21. Awakened at an early hour yesterday to find St burglar In her home on a farm several miles from Gainesville. Mrs.

James S. Longstreet, the aged widow of the famous Confederate general, opened fire on the Intruder causing him to leave the house post haste, abandoning his booty as he fled. Mrs. Longstreet heard the burglar In the dining room which adjoins the bedroom. Quietly arising from bed, she seised a revolver and tiptoed down the room.

There the man was busy stowing the family plate in a sack. She Immediately opened fire, shooting five times. Neighbors who heard the ehotg hurried to the Longstreet home but Mrs. Longstreet had again calmly retired. CITY CLERKS MEETING AT NIAGARA FALLS NIAGARA FALLS.
