The sheriffs office said one of the calls came from a woman who said she was formerly married to Tanner.

She said he faked a suicide 1978 when he allegedly jumped off a bridge into the -Houston ship channel. No body was ever found, and arson charges are still pending against Tanner in Houston. Tanner's real name is Eddy Dale Ridlehoover. He was last seen in Polebridge on Sept. 4, 1990, and according to new i evidence, flew to Houston shortly thereafter, said Pat Walsh, the Flathead County investigator on the case.

In Flathead County, there are no warrants for his arrest, but he is a suspect for arson, cruelty to animals and filing false reports in Flathead County, the sheriff's department said. He is wanted in Washington on bigamy charges, the sheriff said. Hungry Horse News (Columbia Falls), 12591 Troy council supports its cops TROY Troy City Council has reaffirmed its support of the city police department's get-tough enforcement of driving-while-intoxicated laws. More than 50 people packed the Troy council chambers at a recent meeting to protest "big city" enforcement tactics by Troy Chief of Police Charlie Muchmore and his assistant; city policeman Will Goyen. Since Goyen was hired in July, there have been 12 arrests for driving while under the influence of alcohol in Troy, Muchmore has said DUI enforcement is a high priority within his two-person department.

i People who object to this told the Troy council that Goyen "harasses" youthful drivers, and that overly strict DUI enforcement hurts local business. The Troy council responded that it is aware that revenue of taverns may be hurt. The council suggested that private businesses establish a designated driver service so that patrons do not drive away from taverns drunk. The Western News (Libby), 1216191, 12111191 Soviets add to metal abundance COLUMBIA FALLS Driven down by the worldwide recession and a global oversupply, the price of aluminum has dropped to its lowest point in a decade. One year ago aluminum on the London Metals Exchange was selling for 69.3 cents a pound.

A recent check of the exchange showed a price of 48,7 percent, a 30 percent decline. In 1989, aluminum was selling for about $1.50 a pound. Because of the declining prices, profit-sharing bonuses for Columbia Falls Aluminum Co. employees "will be less than usual this Christmas. Demand has slowed worldwide for aluminum because of the recession, and Soviet Union aluminum plants, pressed for hard currency, moved two to'three times as much metal into world markets as in the late 1980s.
