The Tigers raised their record to 7-J overall and 5-1 in the Big Eight. The Cowboys moved to 6-4 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

Archer, who had a twisting, turning 16-yard touchdown run in the first period, added a 7-yard scoring toss to Henderson late in the fourth quarter and finished with 29 completions in 40 attempts for 286 yards.

His 304 yards of total offense gave him 2,507 yards for the season, besting the conference mark of 2,387 set by Iowa State quarterback George Amundson in 1972. Henderson, a sophomore who ranks among the nation's top receivers this year, set a conference single-game record with 16 receptions and shattered the Big Eight season mark for reception yards. Henderson has 1,074 yards in receptions compared to 967 yards set by Oklahoma's Eddie Hinton in 1968. touchdown in the final minutes. The Sooners built a 34-7 halftime lead and led 41-14 after three quarters, but surrendered two fourth-quarter touchdowns and barely avoided allowing a third that would have pulled the Buffaloes within striking distance.
