Neither the exact date of the fair nor the particular building in which it will be held: ha yet been fixed, but that it will be a financial success is already assured. Many people of the city without regard to creed, nave agreed to assist; in fact, have already assisted and. quite a number of donations have 'been-made One or tne fea-tures of the fair will be the contest for two Shetland ponies, offered by Thomas Gavin, proprietor of the Gavin house on East Park avenue. Another contest that promises to be of much interest Is one between M. J.

Walsh, the popular coroner of Deer Lodge county, and A. A. Richards, an equally popular business man of the city. The contest is for a gentleman's gold watch of Elgin make and beautifully designed cases. Assisting the ladies are Father Pirnat and Father Leitham of St, Peter's parish.

Both priests are making strenuous efforts to forward the fair and both are popular with the congregation and the citizens of Anaconda generally and the hope is freely expressed that the fair will be in every way a suocess. Bride doll, Catherine Larkin and 'Katie Reagan. Kitchen range, Mrs. Patrick Marron and Mrs. Samuel Alsworth. There will -undoubtedly be many other contests arranged as the prep- arations for the fair progress, but the contests above are already entered upon and Irrevocable.

Michael A. Morrison; post-ofllce booth. Miss Annie Moreau. The ladies named will be in charge of the booths, but of course each will have many assistants. It is now the plan to keep the fair going for a least 10 days and probably longer.

Ed Jones, who was alleged to have torn down a gate on the premises of Jacob Stuckey, a rancher living absut three miles west of the city, was given a hearing before Judge Fitzgerald yesterday and discharged. The thickness of the vein is increasing and the quality of the coal Is high grade.

The deeper the tunnel goes, the better the outlook becomes and the indications are that a large body of iflrst-class commercial coal will be available before the work has pro gressed much further. From the mining regions west oi An aconda the Teports of development work and of mining operations are all favorable. The' shipments of ore from the district are increasing all the time and it. is said that new companies will soon enter the list of shippers. That tne district contains one or me greatest ore" bodies in the world, there is no room to doubt, as the opinions of all experts who have examined the district lead to this? conclusion.

Develop ment work is 'being pushed on several of the older properties and new capital has been invested in the district within a few days all of which conditions are most encouraging. "There is every reason to reel satis- fled with local conditions," said M. J. Fitz Patrick to a Standard man yesterday. "The news from our tributary country is highly encouraging and here in the city conditions are better than they have been in years.

Our real estate business has been better this spring than for a long time.
