TO 1 14 Friday, September 23, 1983 Obituaries Leo Joseph Kottas Jr. FALLS CHURCH, Va. Leo Joseph Kottas 44, an all-state football 1 player during his high school years in Missoula and later chief attorney for the Montana Department of Revenue, died Monday in Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, following a heart attack. At, the time of his death, he was an attorney adviser with the federal government in Washington, D.C. He recently participated in hearings in Washington as a candidate for a federal administrative judgeship.

Born Oct. 22, 1938, in Missoula, Mr. Kottas attended Missoula County High School, where he was an all-state running back with the Spartans. He also excelled at track and was on the Spartans' Interscholastic championship relay team. Graduating from MCHS in 1956, the University of Montana in 1960 and the UM School of Law in 1963, he joined the Army's Judge Advocate General's Office and served at the Pentagon.

Following his Army career, Mr. Kottas moved to Helena, where he served as chief attorney for the state Department of Revenue. He subsequently joined the legal division of the Montana Highway Department and later returned to Missoula to practice law. Moving to Fargo, N.D., Mr. Kottas was a clerk for an administrative judge.

He later moved to the Washington, D.C., area, residing there ever since. Survivors include his wife, Pamela, Alexandria; a daughter, Anna, Helena; three stepchildren, Rachelle, Micah and Sarah Melby, Alexandria; his mother, Mary Fox, Missoula; and his father, Leo Kottas Helena. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Culmore United Methodist Church in Falls Church, Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, Va. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home in Falls Church.

Herman F. Redle Herman F. Redle, 90, of Missoula, died Thursday in a local nursing home. He was born May 26, 1893, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Herman and Josephine Redle. He moved with his family to Missoula in 1900, and later lived in Anaconda and Bozeman.

At the age of 16 he began working for the Northern Pacific Railroad in Missoula, and retired from the railroad after 49 years and three months as a machinist. In 1921 he married Beate Glauth in Billings. She died in 1930. In 1932 he married Ozelle Landry in Missoula. She preceded him in death in 1961.

In his early years, Mr. Redle was an avid baseball player and played on the Northern Pacific team as well as other area teams. He was a member of the Machinists Union and served on one of the first board of directors of the N.P. Credit Union. He also was a member of St.

Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Richard Redle, Columbus; a daughter, Clara Jo Kimmet, Great Falls; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church under the direction of Squire Simmons Carr Funeral Home. The Rev.

John Monahan will be celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery Annex. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday.

James R. Markette, 55, of Whitefish, died Thursday at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish following a heart attack. He was born Aug. 15, 1928, at Brookhaven, the son of Myrtis and Dr. John Markette.

He was raised and educated in Brookhaven, and during the Korean War served in the Air Force as a jet pilot. After his discharge he attended the University of Mississippi and graduated from Harvard Medical School. In 1959 he moved to Cut Bank and practiced there until 1980 when he moved to the Flathead Valley and entered medical practice with Dr. Loren Branish of Kalispell. On April 3, 1951, he married Peggy Towle in Helena, and is now survived by her at the family home in Whitefish.

He also is survived by a daughter, Dr. Catherine Markette. Seattle: a son, David Markette, Amarillo, Texas; and a brother, Dr. Ronald Markette, Atlanta, Ga. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m.

Saturday in the Austin Funeral Home in Whitefish with the Rev. Tom John William Schramm John William Schramm, 62, of Missoula, died Thursday in a local hospital following a long illness. He was born June 19, 1921, i in Missoula, to Blanche and John Schramm. He was raised in Missoula and attended 1 Missoula County High School. During World War II he served with the Army in both North Africa and Germany.

At one time he owned a meatpacking business, and was employed by John R. Daily Co. and 4B's Wholesale. He spent a number of years as assistant manager of the Garden City Boys Club and was a 36-year member BPOE Elks. Survivors include his wife, Helen soula; a son, Dan D.

Schramm, Helen Superneau, Missoula, and spell; and several nephews. Funeral services will be held Squire Simmons Carr Funeral Home Burr officiating. State needs proposals Montana's Department of Natural Resources is looking for projects that will help it measure the performance of renewable energy systems.

The department's Energy Division is seeking proposals for monitoring solar, wind, water, geothermal and biomass energy systems. Several proposals of varying complexity and cost will be accepted. Wednesday. Marion Anne Farley Marion Anne Farley, 78, of Missoula, died Wednesday in a local nursing home of natural causes. She was born May 18, 1905, at Pullman, to Annie and F.M. Busby. She was raised in Pullman where her parents homesteaded.

As a young girl she lived at Big Sandy where her parents owned a ranch. On Dec. 27, 1925, she married Arthur Raymond Morgan. They had a son and two daughters. Mr.

Morgan died July 19, 1948. On Feb. 26, 1950, she married Lawrence A. Farley, who worked for the Milwaukee Railroad until his retirement. The couple lived in the Spokane area and returned to Missoula in 1972.

Mr. Farley preceded his wife in death in 1977. She Maude Beatrice ST. IGNATIUS Maude Beatrice Roberts, 97, died of natural causes Wednesday at the Masonic Home in Helena. She had been postmistress in Ravalli for 17 years until her retirement.

She was born April 4, 1886, in Hallowell, Kansas. She attended schools in Kansas and moved to Terry 1 in 1920 with her husband, Jesse Edgar Roberts, who was a signal maintenance employee for the Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1930 the couple moved to Dixon and then to Ravalli in 1935, where they operated the post office and general store. She entered the Masonic Home in Helena in 1969. She was preceded in death by her parents, her hus- also was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a grandchild.

She was a member of the Missoula Senior Citizens Center and had been an RSVP volunteer. Survivors include her son, Robert E. Morgan, Post Falls, Idaho; two daughters, Beverly J. Weeks, Missoula, and Rosemary Meadows, Glendale, a sister, Dorothy Kulley, Great Falls; 10 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Graveside services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev.

Jim Mardock of First Methodist Church officiating. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Crematory under the direction of Squire Simmons Carr Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m., at the First Christian Church in St. Ignatius with the Rev. Bob Larsson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Waldo Phillips, Jim Jennings, Jim Jennings Don Day, Henry Olson and Charles Lemery. Eastern Star services will be conducted by the Oketa Chapter 114 of St. Ignatius. Burial will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation at the Fearon Chapel in St.
