Skeleton. Monday J. H. Van Houten, his wife and Mrs. Norris went out Hat Six way on a pleasure trip and during the day left camp for a trip up Hat Six canyon to the falls.

On the return Mr. Van Houten disturbed some bones with his fish pole and on close examiation it was discovered to be the skeleten of a human, almost complete with the exception of the skull, which was missing. Three toes and the ligaments of some animal's foreleg, presumably a dog, were also found. The skeleton was about twenty inches high and was found on a sheltered ledge in a spot that had evidently been frequented by stock in stormy weather. Theories are advanced that the unfortunate being had sought the ledge as a haven of refuge or for a comfortable rest, as is also the theory of foul play.

Coroner Tubbs is of the opinion that the skeleton is that of an Indian as at one time the Indians buried their dead in such locations as described.
