NEWS SERVICES The No. 5 Gophers volleyball team defeated Ohio State 25-15, 25-20, 25-18 on Wednesday night in Columbus, Ohio, with a balanced attack and strong defense. Stephanie Samedy had 16 kills for Minnesota (18-2, 7-2 Big Ten), Alexis Hart 11, Jasmyn Martin nine and Regan Pittman eight. The Gophers hit .274, led by .467, in winning their sixth consecutive match. Molly Lohman had only four kills for Minnesota but she led the team in blocks with five and aces with three.

The Buckeyes (11-9, 4-5) hit .137. Ashley Wenz led OSU in kills with 10. Lynch replaced The Gophers had planned on having seniors Nate Mason and Reggie Lynch represent the team at Big Ten Media Day in New York. But there was a last-minute change for player representation with Lynch being replaced by junior Jordan Murphy absence was because of a a team spokesman said.
